Apparently it's "unprecedented" that liverpool have decided to retire Jota's number to "immortalise" the No. 20 shirt.

Yeah, nobody's EVER done that before in football have they ;)

It would seem that even in stories relating to situations as horrible as this one, that they obviously can't help themselves from pushing their "it means more" bullshit messages.

Horrible fucking PR backed wank-stain of a club! (IMO)

Maybe they mean it’s unprecedented for Littlewoods to do this.

No, probably not.

And for another club to have done this 20+ years ago is too much for their tiny minds to contemplate.

We were in the medical room for 12 weeks
No, I get that and you're absolutely right. But I think this kind of goes back to what I was saying in that Liverpool are now making signings from a position of strength to not only cover what they've lost but also to improve their starting 11. I don't think we did enough in the transfer market after the treble to try and mitigate those injuries and to strengthen our starting 11. Last season, barring Rodri, the other players have all had suspect injury records for years.

I know we're hopeful but does anyone really think Stones, Ake and maybe Akanji will go through the season without any injuries? I'm not convinced but I absolutely hope I'm wrong.

Liverpool won the title with 84 points in a season when City were knocked out of contention by injury and ageing players. Liverpool have to handle the ageing of their own players now (VVD and Salah) and they are about to lose one of their best players in Diaz. Their fans are over confident.

Remains to be seen, as it stands they have replaced Arnold with a lesser player The Robertson replacement, remains to be seen if he is as good or better playing for Bournemouth is less pressure than a top four club Wirtz is a good signing but with a massive price tag
Their defence is doubtful especially with an aging anchor and Salah is also aging Van Dyke who for me looked more vulnerable as the drain went on

So it begins. After years of telling us Net Spent is fucking rubbish the dippers have now done a complete a 180 and are claiming Net Spent should be the metric transfers are judged on......

Listen, I completely agree with that but we've still got to make up 13 points on them based on last season. We've still got some our own ageing, injury prone players to contend with whilst also bedding in our new players. I didn't say they'd piss the league but I do think they'll finish above us

Again, I agree with that but we've also got similar things to contend with. 3 of our centre halves barely kicked a ball last season, as it stands we've still got Nunes/Lewis at right back and we've got a minimum of 3 players of our own to bed in.

13 points is only a point more than Paul Doyle got for his various moving traffic offences, a couple of months back.

We'll piss that.

They finished 22 points behind us in 22:23 season and 9 points behing us in 23:24 season, noboby had the cunts winning it at the start of last season it was us or arse, we'll be much much better this seaaon

So there signings from a position of strength will bed in straight away but ours won't? Their central defence options are arguably the worst in the division. van Hype, Konate and Joe Gomez (yes Joe Gomez)

On the face of it - and based on the evidence of posts in this thread - most people would conclude that the poster in question is undoubtedly not a CITY fan. You'd would probably also suspect that he/she follows one of the scum red teams

Then again - that seems implausible given that the poster has nearly 2000 posts in 13 years. FFS, they would have to have been a pretty dedicated 'sleeper'.

Joined shortly after the 2012 title win.

So I had a spare few mins and had a look at a good selection of his/her posts. There are some about random off-topic stuff, but those relating to football are almost exclusively in threads where there is the opportunity to slag CITY off - and that opportunity is taken with both hands. So many posts in match threads, transfer threads and the PL charges thread - almost without fail highly negative of all things CITY.

Just to test my 'concerns' I looked at his/her posts around the time CITY won the Champions League - and also when we won each of the 4 in a row PL titles.

Strangely - not a single post on those topics.

I (perhaps) will work on the assumption that my suspicions are totally unfounded and the poster just has some disorder that means that he/she just needs to slag of 'the team they love' ;-)

We won the amount of points required to win the league. I really don't care if we won it by most xG on 38 points level with everyone else! It really doesn't matter! Celtic don't care that the rest of the league couldn't compete season in season out.
I see some posts on here and I wonder where they get the misinformation from. There maybe quite a few that think signings equal winning everything but these same people, generally, know fuck all about football let alone my beloved football club.
People like 'Dave' at work who 'watches' games in the pub and see a couple of highlight vids posted on social media. Never kicked a ball in his life and wouldn't recognize Anfield, if it was lit up in big neon lights, placed where his favourite bar stool used to be! People like this tend to be RAWK users/readers.

They tend only to be boisterous when the team is winning. If a period of 'failure' arrives then they will eventually slink away - all clubs have these types.
Personally I am not over confident. It is quite an upheaval and next season may well be exciting but it is likely to have periods were the players just aren't on the same wavelength.

Some posters also seem to not understand their fellow city supporters negativity! The following is not a dig!
Older city supporters will have grown up being optimistic about failure! Just because they are pessimistic doesn't make them certain to be WUMs!

Harsh. Worst in the division? Lend me a grand and I'll stick it on us to get relegated! ha!

I agree though. There are no guarantees new players will be a success.

What's that got to do with anything? They've signed players, for big money, on the back of winning the league. Of course they've gambled, of course they'll need time to bed in but if we'd have signed a right back, a left back and the player we wanted to replace De Bruyne then we'd all have our cocks out.

We've done some great business, Reijnders looks like a quality from what he showed in the CWC, Cherki will be top drawer for us, maybe not this season but eventually he will be and Ait Nouri finally gives us a natural outlet at left back.

I think there's still question marks around our squad (just like there is with the dippers) that I think we need to address before the season starts. Signing a right back being one of them
