You can take a negative spin on it but we were top, had won 7 of our first 9 PL games, The 2 games where we had dropped points were in drawing away to Newcastle and drawing with arsenal in that game where Rodri got injured, Trossard was sent off and we were camped in their area for the whole of the 2nd half.
3 games played in the CL 7 points gained, 9 goals for and none conceded.

Like I said we scraped through, many of those games we won we were ridiculously poor. So your “people forget how good we were” comment was not true we were bang average.

People seem to forget? We wasn’t playing well at all we were scraping by. Couple lucky results last minute winner at Wolves, lucky at home to Brentford, Southampton and Fulham. Beat the mighty West Ham and Ipswich the only decent result was away to an unknown Chelsea opening day.

Unbeaten in Champions League we’d played Inter at home and Sparta away. League cup we beat Watford.

We were far from convincing and the signs were showing.

I am curious why everyone thinks Foden, who has always played better as a winger, will be in midfield over Cherki.

It's partly because I see Pep bedding in Cherki as a winger until he trusts him in the middle. Also Phil from what I've been is faster to get back and defend.

Puts into perspective how young Lewis is. This will be his 4th season appearing for the first team and he's still young enough for the b list. And half our fanbase froths at the mouth to slag him off.

And as I`ve suggested before its not just down to the defense but our midfielders, who have last season had no pace whatsoever in helping out on containing a quick break from the opposition.

Spot on Oakie, I'm just very irked by the defence, so I've probably given the mids a free pass. Hopefully decent selections and the specific use of Rodri in the big games will help.

Cheers. That's what I was questioning myself over originally. So then he would go in as the 3rd club trained player with foden and Trafford, mcatee being the 4th in the unlikely event he remained here.

Football is still a game of running and as said many times on the forum we cannot have a midfield of 3 where none are at elite levels of physical performance and expect to compete 2 games a week. One older player yes we can certainly manage that and if it’s silva we know he’s got endurance just not got that burst of pace to manage transitions.

A very quick full back(s) or ch will certainly help as per walker in his pomp. Livramento is rapid and ait nouri is no slouch, he’s only been with us for 6 months so will get much better understanding our play.

I’d still like 2 more players: Livramento and Wharton to join and don’t really care who of nunes, gundo, kovacic, jack, McAtee goes. Hopefully all of them
