Post Something Interesting

I have come across something interesting. In October 1918, south of Ypres on the Western Front, there was a field dressing station used by both British and german troops injured in the fighting.
One officer there, called Oliver Locker-Lampson, reported that a German corporal had come to see him to inquire about this game of cticket he had heard so muich about. Shortly after, confused and bewildered by the game, he was sent to a military hospital in Stettin, Germany.
The corporal was Adolf Hitler. It was his only known connection with our summer game.
I think this is fascinating. Of course, we only have Locker-Lampson's word for it. But why should he make it up?

It wouldn’t surprise me if his eventual path down the road of insanity, paranoia and mass murder, were in some way attributable to an attempt to understand the LBW rule.

OR:
A coin is tossed.
One of the teams goes out and they're in till they're out.
Then the team that's out goes in until they're out.
Then the game ends......

He might also have seen a match when visiting his relatives in Liverpool?

Llivia is a town in the French Pyrenees.
It is however not in France.
It is Spanish.
In1659, after years of fighting and squabbling over where the border between Spain and France was, both countries sat down and defined the border.
It put Llivia in France. The people living there were furious and stated they did not want to to be part of France, they were Spanish. The French, for once were not their argumentative awkward selves and said 'fair do's'. They gave the town to Spain.
A few years ago i went there and it's weird. The cars, language, customs are all Spanish. As you drive into the town you can feel it change.
