The thing is if Reis does stay he could play alot more than he thinks, We don't have defenders that stay fit other than Gvardiol, Khusanov and Ait-Nouri who had a good record at Wolves.Reis and his agent probably got the impression Akanji, Ake, Stones likely all stay with Gvardiol, Dias being the main CB pair as well. even Khusanov is ahead of him in the pecking order who will struggle for minutes if nobody is leaving from this department.
a loan is good for Reis inn this case, as he need to play to improve and if he can get regular minutes in a CL side, thats much better than 2 PL starts, 3 Carabao starts all season here.
Said in the arsenal thread, now they have a proper striker they could be a problem. All mentality with them though. If they get back to playing the nice football they did, then they are the biggest threat. If they decide the striker is just another cog in their set piece encyclopedia then theyre nothing to worry about. They need to get away from playing for set pieces play the one touch they were incredible at a couple years ago.I think Arsenal's squad is far superior to the Dippers. Through gritted teeth I think they will provide the biggest challenge to us this season. What Chelsea will conjure up is anybody's guess.

problem is if Pep has older players available he wont tell them sorry you are not selected for away CL suad or PL match because Reis is.The thing is if Reis does stay he could play alot more than he thinks, We don't have defenders that stay fit other than Gvardiol, Khusanov and Ait-Nouri who had a good record at Wolves.
Akanji, Stones and Ake are made of wet toilet roll. We could well end up with doing with Reis staying put strangely enough. Pity we couldn't offload Akanji, Ake and Stones and keep Reis and Bah.
Liverpool don't have one. And for all of TAA's attacking qualities, there is no way (by the standard of what is being requested here) that he would be up to the required defensive capabilities. As for Frimpong and Kerkez, they are good prospects but very, very attacking by nature. Are they better than Ait-Nouri and Lewis/Nunes, not in my opinion. As for centre back, we have Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Reis, Ake, Stones and Akanji. A comparison with Liverpool would not be favourable for them, IMO.I don't know who Liverpool's outstanding RB is but all I'll say is that they lost TAA and they replaced him instantly with one of the most attacking fullbacks in Europe. They've also got that young lad who came in a few times and seem to do quite well. The point is, they've got 2 actual right backs whereas we've got a failed attacking midfielder and a young kid who looks severely out of his depth operating as ours.
I think our gaping holes are at right back & at centre half where we have Stones, Ake & Akanji who I don't think have ever completed a full season without some form of significant injury. That isn't criticism of them, it's just how it is.
I think we lack pace both at the back and in midfield and whilst we have signed Reijnders & Cherki, I still think we're a player short. We're also lacking a significant goal threat outside of Marmoush & Haaland, especially out wide. Doku and Savinho's numbers are way short of where they need to be in order for us to mount a serious challenge both domestically and in Europe. I really hope this season will be the breakthrough season for them both.
We'll be there or thereabouts, whether we've currently got enough to win it, I'm not sure
Any waving of the white flag is absolutely ridiculous...The Cult finished way off and were never in contention two years ago. Didn’t sign anyone and then won at a canter last season
Their freakish lack of injuries last season was the real difference maker imo, along with a more restrained playing style
And even then they tailed off pretty badly. 84 points
Last year was arsenal’s best chance, with us out of contention, and they still blew it on all fronts. Mental flakiness will cost them again
Some on here are waving the white flag very early imo
I think this is the biggest challenge that City face. They know how valuable he is and how good he is, but the level to play in our midfield is another level. I suspect that they'll try really hard to keep him because in a year Bernardo and Gundo will be gone, and probably Kovacic too. At that point a lot of space opens up in midfield and there's a world in which the four are Rodri, Gonzalez, Reijnders, and Rico.
We’ll find out and I could be made to look silly, but don’t think the striker they’ve got is that great. Yes he had a very good season in Portugal but wouldn’t be surprised he was more like Nunez than a 20 plus goal a season striker. Whether we win the league or don’t think we will finish above arsenal and outscore them.Said in the arsenal thread, now they have a proper striker they could be a problem. You've just got to trust the club. Viana hasn't done much wrong this window, and they've obviously gone for a RB and Newcastle have said no. Do you want us to buy a player for buyings sakes and then have to sell him again?
Think winning so much has made our fans entitled. We don't know how lucky we've been to see what we have. I'd have taken 1 League Cup when I was growing up. We've been spoilt. We can't dominate forever, Football is Cyclical and at some stage the dominance had to end.
Arsenal are shite and they won't win anything significant whilst they have Arteta. Pep is very emotive but when it comes down to the serious stuff, he steps up. Arteta doesn't have that abilityThe Cult finished way off and were never in contention two years ago. Didn’t sign anyone and then won at a canter last season

Widely reported by who?Would have to push back on that, On June 20th, it was being widely reported that we wanted to keep Reis this season and that Guardiola was keen for him to stay. A month on, and it’s now increasingly looking like he and other young players will have to leave, as contracted senior players look set to remain, and their leaving is the only feasible way of whittling down our bloated squad. Our succession planning has been poor, largely because it’s been determined by what went before.
Not with the people who own the club and the wealth available to us though mate? Khaldoon is sure to winning at everything? Not just football but in areas of life?
Are you old enough to drive?I'd have driven him to Brighton for 50 million.
They’re a lot like Klopp’s cult, it’s all about the heart and over-emotion, in the team and in the standsArsenal are shite and they won't win anything significant whilst they have Arteta. Pep is very emotive but when it comes down to the serious stuff, he steps up. Arteta doesn't have that ability
Bradley is a very good RB, if he can stay injury free I think he'll play more than Frimpong. I'd love him at City but there's zero chance of that happening.Oh yes, Marmoush and O'Reilly did very well, but Marmoush came in flying from Germany, and O'Reilly played with vast experience beside him. Yes, fatigue, both mental AND physical.
Could you tell me whom you believe is the outstanding RB at Liverpool? I guess you believe that they will be the league winners, and where our 'gaping' holes are?
Reis, Echeverri and Nypan may make a difference, or may not and will be loaned, but the idea that we have only bought three players is not true, though I respect that you were referring to this summer only.
Maybe but think Nypan and O’Reilly will also be challenging for that 4th or 5th spot. Not saying he can’t be the winner in that but have some doubts he can be better than those 2.I think this is the biggest challenge that City face. They know how valuable he is and how good he is, but the level to play in our midfield is another level. Already going to be better than Haaland and Isak, according to Magic Hat and other deranged TarquinsWe’ll find out and I could be made to look silly, but don’t think the striker they’ve got is that great. Yes he had a very good season in Portugal but wouldn’t be surprised he was more like Nunez than a 20 plus goal a season striker. I was obviously being sarcastic. Are you old enough to drive?
