It's Quiet the £250m return

Pep mentioned a squad of 23 in his recent interview, we have 29 not counting Phillips, Grealish, McAtee or Ortega.

So realistically we need those 4 and another 6 to go either permanently or on loan, which is mad.

Kova looks to be staying according to reports.

Gundo, Stones, Akanji, Nunes the ones said to be told they can leave, so wouldn’t be surprised to see at least 2/3 of the younger lads go out on loan.

Big shame imo, when Bernardo and Kovacic and probably some of the above will remain at the club.

Now or in a year, the succession planning is there. If it's in a year, he'll be stronger, more experienced and more ready.
I’m less convinced. We brought a 19 year-old from Brazil in the middle of January for six months and gave him 1 minute of competitive football between March and June, 226 minutes in total, so I’m unsure how that constitutes succession planning to have him stronger, more experienced, and readier.

Tbh I'm not 100% certain of how good Reis and Khusanov are, but I've no real issue with how they're being handled. So far anyway.

Our system places high demands on the defenders. Neither of the young signings have played in this kind of system before, or in a team who will dominate possession to the extent we do. Pep demands players receiving the ball correctly, moving off the ball into the correct positions and picking the right option when passing. And that's just with the ball.

No idea how good his English is, but throwing him in last season could have wrecked him, but it also meant that if our injured players didn't recover he was an option. Meanwhile he's understanding our requirements more in training.

I think a year at Porto would be brilliant for him. A good side who dominated and will play in European competition (not sure which). He'll come back looking less like a scrawny school kid and more like a man and more ready to handle the PL.

I guess the question in the meantime would be if enough of our other defenders can stay fit for a year! I'm fairly upbeat about that, if only because I can't see the injury situation being that bad 2 years running. Law of averages and all that.

Nunes isn't as bad as some make out on here.
Nunes has done enough to earn a reprieve imo, BUT I firmly believe we'd be far stronger & better off with Livramento as our main RB, with Nunes as his back up to rotate & rest with. I'd feel a lot more settled if this was the case.

The issue with Nunes comes when he has to face the likes of Mbappe, Vinicius & players of that ilk. This is where I'd prefer Livramento as our main option, with Nunes (for now) as the player to use against lower-mid-table teams.

With Livramento, we have to think long-term & stop with the penny pinching. It's not like we don't have the resources either. If squad size is the issue, then it's time for Pep & Hugo to make it clear that those with no long-term future with City, will spend the WC season not registered for the CL or PL, so to find themselves a suitable permanent or loan deal.

We can't keep prioritising Stones, Gundog, Stefan, Grealish, McAtee & possibly Akanji, Aké, Nunes & Kovacic over those players who'll form the foundation of City for years to come.

The fucking disrespect for Bernardo Silva in this forum is disgusting. He isn’t a right winger but plays there when Pep asks him too without any sign of moaning. When he played centre mid last season he did well, and when he had Rodri and Reijnders alongside him next season he’ll be even better. People who write about him as a waste of squad space are not only disrespectful shagfuckers, they are also wrong

Those are probably the same fans who said he was the heartbeat of the team 2-3 seasons ago.

The club obviously want Livramento. That’s obvious. Deal was always going to be extremely difficult once Newcastle secured Champions League for this season. Isak forcing his way out for what will likely be huge money only makes Newcastles need to sell even less and City bringing them to the table for Tino near impossible.

Newcastle losing Isak makes them far weaker, he’s a top top goalscorer and with the way their window is going they ain’t replacing him with anyone anywhere near his quality. Very possible they drop off, miss out on CL and Livramento becomes more realistic of a signing next year.

I back us to go with what we have now. Might and more than likely will bite us in the arse because we’re weak in that position, but rather get the player we want if a year later than some random stop gap signing that doesn’t work out and needs shifting after 12 months. The right back market in general is really sparse at the minute

But you're talking about Livramento as if he plays for club who are at the bottom of the table.

For Newcastle to even entertain the idea of selling Isak, it has required the player himself to push the move and effectively removing himself from the squad and forcing the club’s hand. This isn’t a side looking to offload its top talent. Newcastle are not in the business of selling their best players unless absolutely compelled.

We briefed to Romano we wanted Livramento and he put the story out on his account. There's been no movement from the players side, so there's not much more we can do. Newcastle probably don't want to sell him.

We've gotten so close to correcting all our mistakes in recent transfer windows. I'm wondering why we've supposedly just stopped at the last hurdle. Doesn't really make any sense.
It makes a lot of sense if Viana doesn't feel anybody of the quality we need is available.

Bernardo has been one of the best signings of the Pep era, if not our entire history.
Honest, hardworking and fucking quality to match. A player that’s provided massive moments for us too. No respect for any City fan the disrespects him.

Should he be playing every week? Absolutely not but he’s still more than good enough to play a part and although I’d have personally chosen a couple of others over him, he’s earned that captains armband for the season.

we could have got to Livramento early in the window, now its obv shit that Isak saga happened first but we could have made our own Livramento saga and and that would have meant they find it harder to sell Isak too. now it happened the other way, Liverpool acted first and yes it leaves even less chance for them to let Livramento go. dippers probably happy if their business reduces City's chance getting Livramento...

bit like offer for Rice we knew will not be accepted then say we are no longer interested. we didnt even bid for Livramento here. I mean he was available for 35m 2 years ago, but our forward planning at that time was brutal shit by Txiki...
