Tino Livramento

Our last 3 years have been pretty average that’s why so many have caught up. They caught up and are pressing ahead while we still look around fair bargain's. Instead of singing 4 or 5 players every year one or two top notch players add to the squad and stop letting all our decent players get old together.
Fucking Hell. Last 3 years? 3??? The treble season 2022-2023 is included in that 3 years.

WTF?

What more success do you exactly expect?

I can understand NUFCs stance on Livarmento, they don't need to sell and don't want to sell so everyone can piss off. However would something like Grealish plus Akanji tempt them, suppose that would depend on Howe's opinion of Akanji and because both are 30ish probably not. But what about say McAtee and Akanji (or Jack) and maybe some ackers going there way. Im just clutching at straws, trying to find a way to get our greasy mits on Livramento...

Since the treble our transfers have been poor and the squad has got old together. We won the league since and lost two cup finals one to our biggest rivals and both teams are mid table teams

No the fan base just wants us to keep pushing on so we can stay the best. Not standing still to fall behind
No great team stays great every single year. There are dips and ebbs- resurgences- it's what make it great being a supporter and not just a fly by season fan.

This team came from fucking nowt. The last 10 years have been stellar. Of course I'm not okay with just sitting back and looking at old games and playing "Memories" on the 8 track- but you have to grow up and realize that this happens.

Pretty average
We’ve won a treble and a record breaking fourth consecutive title in the last three years
Only Haaland and Gavardiol were our decent signing in those years we won the treble since then we won the league but you could see the warning signs were setting in and we have lost two cup finals to far inferior teams. We haven’t t kicked on we have bought quantity rather than quality since the treble and we’ve let top players leave in. The meantime or let our decent players play until they can hardly play anymore

Don’t see this one happening this summer at all now. Newcastle won’t want to lose him after the summer they’re having, especially with Isak looking likely to go for big money now too. The lad doesn’t feel like the type to kick up a fuss to move either. He’s young and although we’d be a step up, Newcastle aren’t exactly a bad team to stay and develop with. They’re a very good side and have Champions League to look forward too.

What I will say is it’s pretty bloody obvious he’s the player we want for right back and I back the club to go into this season with what we have now. I know there’s been a lot of doom and gloom about how we’re ’screwed’ this season if we don’t sign a right back, but I’d rather get the right one if we do. Outside of him I’m not convinced there’s anyone available in that position that would drastically improve us.

We’ll make a go of it with what we have this season and try our luck with him again next summer now I’m pretty sure. I’m ok with it.

I hate the school holidays

Tell me a right back out there that is available that is better than the options we have?
Nunes
Rico
Akanji
Khusanov
I consider Nunes as a fine back-up option with flaws in his game stemming from not actually being a full-back, Rico as completely out of his depth at full-back at this moment in time (but talented enough to warrant some time in the middle), Akanji as the worst full-back we have had post-takeover and a disaster waiting to happen if we actually want our full-backs to be the ones that provide the width in this system. Khusanov I have bo idea about as a full-back, except the fact that Pep has hardly played him there which tells you everything.

People can rate whoever they want, but if you ask me to name one player that is better than those alternatives as right-back I will answer that pretty much every full-back in the top 5 leagues with any experience in the position would be a revelation in this system. To give you one name, Vanderson for a start. If I knew the alternative were no one I think both Aina (Forest) and Munoz (Palace) would significantly strenghten us short-term. Julian Ryerson at Dortmund would have been my under the radar signing. Trafford in opened many posibilities with foreign rb's

That being said though I am just mildly disapointed in this, and relatively happy for us to seek out the one we want later cobsidering how proactive we have been so far this summer. Especially if the idea is to further develop Nunes (who did show potential), Rico (doubt it but I want him to succeed) or Khusanov (at least has the pace to match Walker and is young). If the plan is to at any point use Manu "Every attack stops when I get the ball" Akanji in a position he doesn't fit in. He is like Walker on the ball but with none of the upside Walker had. If that is the case, please sign anyone even just for a season

And I like Akanji, and think he has been a good centre-back for us. But I wouldn't want Erling out wide, or Mahrez in the pivot. Sometimes it is okay to experiment with position, sometimes you have to accept that none of your centre-backs are suited to playing anywhere higher than that unless Stonesy are fit

ONE BAD SEASON!!!! Where we finished 3rd and got to a cup final with a knackered and injury ridden team. Get a grip

Very good and will only get better. Much better going forwards than people seem to think here too due to his assists record not being great. Miles better on the ball than Walker ever was. Great one on one defender. Doku really struggled to get past him and he pocketed Salah in the league cup final. Can’t see us getting him though..
I would beg to differ on the defending aspect. I've had a trawl through Newcastles games last season and his one on one looked a bit iffy. Also appears to have a tendency to lose track of his opposite number and let them slip past him. End result was goals conceded. Appreciate I'm probably focusing on the examples of his defending, but seems like you might be focusing on the best.
