Will we win the league this season?

We have a chance but as of now Liverpool are the favourites. I think a right back would have been a big swing in our favour and it will be very difficult to win the biggest prizes without.

This is probably controversial but I would have liked a top class wide player and CB too. Reis and Khusanov have promise, the worry form of Akanji, Dias and the inability of Stones and Ake to stay fit is a concern.

A wide player would have been nice because you need that threat in the biggest of games. Doku and Savinho haven't shown it yet and I'm not convinced Marmoush will play there long term.

I do think we have a chance and will be better than last season, but I think Liverpool are starting from a much better position.

We made a strong finish to last season to finish third, in what by our standards was a stinker of a campaign. It's impossible to call as we are bedding new players in, it depends on how quickly they adapt. Liverpool are strong and have strengthened well, plus Arsenal have too. I'd reluctantly say no, but fingers crossed I'm wrong.

Have you heard of Swift and Trautmann?

Arguably Corrigan, Coton, Given, James and a your Nicky Weaver have a shout of being better than Ederson.

And I love Ederson and am made up that he’s staying. Even when we were shit we had great goalkeepers. Or maybe I should reword that. When we were shit we needed great goalkeepers.

Lol

If we can do the double vs Liverpool and Arsenal then yeah, why not? Winning as many home games as poss and not losing away would put us in a great position.

I think if we settle on a solid starting 11 and have a run of luck with injuries we have a v real chance of it yes. Defence of alt nouri/ Guardiol/Khusanov or dias/(Sign a right back), with Rodri, foden,Cherki,Reijnders and Marmoush and Haaland would be my preferred starting team. Subs bench would be ridiculously strong also as things stand. None of this will happen mind! But we have the ability so i think a lot comes down to Pep this year. He obv has enough credit in the bank to excuse last season but if we faff about with Gundo and bernardo again its not great given our alternatives now.

Maybe I’m bonkers but I some how have a feeling that the dippers may not be quite as good as they think they are.
Salah isn’t going to have the same year he had last year.
Wirtz, well he has a lot to live up to, I mean are they really that unbeatable. Their defence looks pretty weak.

I’ve changed my mind. As long as everyone stays fit for long enough, our attackers start firing this season and Pep chooses the lineups based on merit, we can win the Prem

I’m not expecting us to win the title. I have us down as third favourites, and that feels about right at this stage. We’re up against clubs throwing vast sums at the wall in hopes of buying success, one spending well over 300 million. In many ways, being underestimated by others might play to our advantage. It’s been a while since we’ve worn the underdog tag and perhaps it’s time we embraced it again.

Liverpool arguably have the strongest starting 11, while Arsenal boast a more balanced side on paper. But when it comes to depth and quality across the squad, I think we have the best squad of players. However, It would be a real shame to see talents like Bobb or Reis sent elsewhere when they could be very useful to us over a long season.

This season, anything can happen and the margins are going to be very fine. Liverpool, for all their brilliance, rode a wave of fortune with injuries last year. Arsenal, for all their control, often lacked a cutting edge and now they’ve acquired one of the best goalscorers in the game. But will his arrival reshape the rhythm that brought them so close in previous seasons?

And what is said of Liverpool? Their blueprint last season was swift, direct, and get the ball as quickly as possible to Salah at every opportunity served them well. But now Wirtz enters the frame, a player who slows the game, who sees it in moments rather than bursts. Will they adjust their system to fit his tempo, or bend him into theirs? It's going to be interesting.

Questions linger, and answers will be written not just in results, but in how these teams choose to evolve. It will be fascinating.

The real question is whether Pep will evolve from the missteps of last season. We’ll get an early glimpse of our trajectory the moment the team sheet drops at Wolves. Should we see a front six of Rodri, Reijnders, Cherki, Foden, Marmoush, and Haaland, it’ll be a bold signal of intent, and one that fills me with confidence that we are here to take our Title back.

But so much still rests on Rodri. If he can return to his imperious best, the heartbeat of the side, then our chances are far greater. Without him at his peak, the foundation falters. In many ways, our entire campaign may hinge on whether Rodri can return to that form.

I genuinely believe Reijnders has the potential to be top class, while Cherki might even surpass Wirtz in impact. Marmoush brings that electric edge, and if Pep opts to field these players together, we’re in for something special. The thought of Foden linking with Cherki is mouthwatering, as is the synergy between Rodri and Reijnders, and the dynamism of Ait-Nouri combining with Doku. Whatever unfolds, one thing is certain we’re about to witness some truly breathtaking football. A lot to look forward to. Chin up lads!

I honestly have got no idea anymore!

I think Liverpool are probably the favourites for me as I think they have bought well. Obviously the players they've bought might not work as they should on paper, but they are a good team. That said, if we'd had been anywhere near our best last year we'd have beaten them I think. Salah and VVD are getting older and Salah can win the league on his own. If they end up with Isak as well that front 3 of Salah, Ekitike and Isak looks very dangerous.

Arsenal have also bought well but a lot will rest on Gyokeres. I have my doubts that he will have the space to run into like he did against us but their midfield looks very strong and I rate Saka.

I had a feeling Newcastle could've challenged had they built on their CC success, but I suspect that team is going to implode and Howe is definitely on borrowed time now sadly.

I like the look of our new signings though but ultimately, it will be whether Rodri is back to full fitness that will determine our season. He's the best player on the planet and quite honestly when he doesn't play we are very hit and miss. Reijnders looks class and I think he will do well and Cherki could be a real surprise package. Marmoush should be a bit more familiar with the league and I can see him doing well. If Foden is back to form then we have enough quality to beat anyone in the PL and in the CL.

The big question we still have is Haaland though. I still think we look better as a team when he doesn't play. That doesn't mean I don't rate him - he is the best striker in the world - but we're not getting the best from him. Pep needs to figure out what our best team is, or how to get Haaland playing well in our system.

Overall, I can't really call it.

My confidence has taken a blow in the absence of Rodri who we I assume is injured.

What makes you say that? Frimpong/Bradley,Konate/VD and Kirkev/robertson in front of Allison and Marmoushvilli (sp?) looks pretty impressive to me. Bookies should stop taking bets.

it all comes down what Pep can do. can he restructure us, change us for the better? with a change in style maybe new hunger can be found, new purpose.
same shit as last season with slow attacks and leaky through the middle and back vs counters, and we do a favour for opponents...

can we press high up if we want high line defence too? can we work our ass off off the ball? if only 2/3 players prepared to do it then forget it...

lot of ifs as well:
if Rodri can find his prime form after this big injury
if Foden can find himself again
if we can use a way to attack to get the best out of Haaland skills, instead of having lots of games where he is lost between CBs minimal touches and zero chances created for him, playing with 10 man in lot of cases otherwise.
if our wingers deliver high G+A or we cannot rely on them again.
if Ederson improves his shot saving
if Dias gets back to his top form
if new players need 12 months before they deliver or can they hit the ground running
if RB position sorted...

Hehe...

Don't understand - why is thinking that all is not perfect 'giving up'?

Only an idiot would have walked up to the Etihad against Liverpool last season seriously thinking that we'd beat them - does that mean that everybody had given up?

Of course it doesn't.
Did you think we’d get third when after we lost to Liverpool at the Etihad, and if not did that constitute you giving up?

I think we'll win it . Rodri is back, Marmoush has already hit the ground running. From the glimpses I have seen of Cherki he could be a real game changer. Reijnders adds dynamism and hopefully goals to the midfield.

As long as our centre backs don't all get injured we'll be ok in defence.. Alt Nouri is definitely an improvement at left back and I think Nunes and Rico will both be better right backs than last year.

Scouse and Tarquins are both being bigged up by the press with their over rated signings.i don't buy into it.

Peps back with his Mrs. That must have effected him last year.

Finally Haaland and Foden were both injured and not at their best last year. If they both step back up we'll take some stopping.

I don’t think so personally. We look at least 2 players short in comparison to our rivals namely a decent right back and another attacker who can contribute goals and assists now KDB is gone.

I think we will be better, a comfortable top 4 finish but not really challenging Liverpool.

No depth in the centre half position but I think they'll buy someone before the window closes
