I imagine this was a deliberately uncompetitive private fixture. Players on both sides probably under instructions to not 'compete' too hard to avoid injuries and a chance for both managers to try and tweak tactics. I doubt our players need to get miles in the legs, just sharpening up and more rest if anything. Introduce fans and players will start going in hard for 59/50s etc.

I don’t know the expressions on players’ faces and the positions they are in in those photos seem full on to me. :-)!

Possibly so mate, we do contribute to a lot of local teams without wanting publicity, I just feel the fans of PNE and our own missed out. Fair comment though.

I do agree with you on the PNE fans missing out (ours to of course but we have more chances). My ex boss was a PNE SC holder and would have loved to go for example.

Maybe. I just assume these behind closed door games often come with a handshake of no risk of injuries etc. so they aren’t the most “fan-friendly”.

My mate went to a behind closed doors game a few years back in pep's early days. Think it was against Hearts.
Aguero gave him his shirt and signed it.
Just need to know the right people.

Me and my mate were invited to the first ever match at the Eithiad, which was behind closed doors.

As for your instruction, I’d say it’ll be Christmas before I can run as I’m getting a new knee in the next couple of months, so I’ll be fit to jump in the river about the same time as Stonesie

Maybe. I just assume these behind closed door games often come with a handshake of no risk of injuries etc. so they aren’t the most “fan-friendly”.

I'd also imagine they are a bit more relaxed in terms of the normal rules etc. I.e. they might play 3 x 30mins so they can try out 3 different teams. Or rolling subs on/off to give everyone a run out and decent minutes. Coaches from either side acting as the match officials rather than bringing in a proper ref/linesmen.

Ultimately, just a kick about to get game time into the legs but no-one really taking it too seriously.

There's an international break in October, so Jonny Boy will be ready a good two months before you.

Shame we can’t offer either Stones or Ake a new 1 or 2 year contract but the proviso is you give up international football and there is only one contract
Both are superb but can’t stay fit and International football doesn’t help

Why do they bother announcing anything about the game and then give no details? Just say nothing and let it play rather than putting a scoreline and a few pics and leave ur entire fanbase asking a load of questions. Or else put the team sheets up, more photos and a bit of write up and make something of it. Doesnt make much sense what they have chose to do and is slightly irritating(hence the post!)
