I am still wondering, after Matheus improved and became consistent last season, why Pep never tried him in midfield to check what he is capable of

I watched his assist against West Ham last season and even though he is good RWB, there is still a chance we are loosing great midfielder in him

Especially that energy and pace and everything

Question is -> him as a midfielder is over or Pep will reconsider someday

Even more interesting is the question: who doesn't "fuck up"? Kyle Walkere made fucking up a consistent part of his game for years. We just saw it as part of the whole. He brought so much else that his consistent gaffes were an acceptable trade-off.

Somehow, Nunes ( who brings even more offensively) doesn't get a similar reprieve.

Pep has his blind spots.

So I think Pep will constantly rotate between these two and there are plenty of options of Matheus is injured or not available.

Savio or Bobb as LW and Khusanov playing as a RCB or RB, while Akanji or Rico play inverted fullback or centre-back.

I just saw a picture of my boy beaming from ear to ear. His confidence seems to be through the roof. I think he is finally comfortable in his skin at City.

I predict a banger of a season is in the making. They'll be talking about him and Hakimi in the same breath when this season is done.

You just watch :)

Hopefully not for the same reasons as Hakimi…..
But I get your sentiment.
A good, forward thinking RB that creates chance after chance for our Erl to smash in.

He has improved a lot in terms of retaining the ball under pressure

In the beginning he was constantly slipping and needed extra time and space to receive the ball, but not any more

So as he has improved on that, add his pace with the ball and we have a gem here, able to carry the ball and cut the teams during buildup

So he can play both wingback and inverted fullback roles and it gives pep a lot of options

I am not still sure about his defensive abilities, jury still out

But question still remains, why not try him as LCM for example, have a feeling he will play really well in midfield now

Maybe when Gundo, Kova, Bernie leave, there will be place for him with Rodri, Nico G and Reijnders

Well, Khusanov is obviously not the best fit.

Nunes as backup RB is fine - but a WC RB able to do all of the above is what we need.

And, I don't for the moment believe, that no such player in the entire world is available to sign.

Who are the world class RB out there I can’t think of anyone hakimi but he’s not for sale
 
based on recent performances against his old club, I hope he doesn't start on Saturday. The stick he got from Wolves fans I recall had a real effect on him.
 
Recency bias. Will get an assist in the next game and then he will be good enough again. Same with Lewis being a special talent now after his good game.

Fuck all wrong with his performance. Was a solid, no thrills, no dramas performance to see out a game, quite literally exactly what we wanted at that point.

Are you related to him. You’ve recently compared a guy who isn’t a right back to Walker and Hakimi.
