3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

Well, City won the Premier League title in each of its first four seasons, as well as the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup in its old format, and the UEFA Super Cup.
He wasn't that bad last season. Like others, he made mistakes, but he also played well in some games.

I'm surprised we've offered him a new deal, Not quite sure what Ruben Dias has done over the last 18 months or more to warrant a new contract.
We just don’t wanna let go of certain players.
Real Madrid as an example stopped the negotiations with Vinicius because of his bad season

I'm wondering what Ederson has done to be on less money than Phillips, yet we're offering new contracts to players like Dias

Will be interesting to see for how long and how much City decide to extend his 2027 contract end date. Could be 1 year, with an increase in £££ for 25-28, or 2 years, with an increase in 27 & 28.

Either way, with our current CB profile, and Stones, Akanji & Ake probably not being here at the end of his deal, it seems like prudent business, and may even garner a transfer fee in a few years. In addition, it avoids the constant speculation during this season, as he would only have 1 year left if City did nothing, and that transfers all the power to the player.

Cannot understand why he has been given a new, and I presume, improved contract based on the last 2 seasons.

I get the point we don’t want him leaving on a free in 2 years but, considering the Jack Grealish, situation we also don’t want a situation where we stuck with a player, who is not performing, and he loses all sell on value or actually ability to sell due to his wages and currently his trajectory of performance has been on the slide since the treble year.

Hopefully his personal life/lifestyle or coincidental with his dip in level of performance, not a factor, as otherwise it could be a decision we live to regret.

Needs a ball playing cb next to him in order to shine. Struggles to actually lead imo. Looks the part though. That lad from palace would be perfect next to him.
