It's Quiet the £250m return

You say that at the same time as reports are emerging that Roma and City are negotiating a loan with an option and City right to buy. That's not ideal at all and City are only considering it because we need to sell players
I assume these "reports" are from reputable sources.

Pull a Brokelona..

Roma have an option to buy for 100 billion and it needs to be paid in 1 payment!

I'm tired of being taken as a mark for exploitation by all these other clubs who want our gems but don't want our older players putting us in the pickle we're in.

It’s not a conspiracy, just less upside.

You do well to get rid after a certain age and have to work out contract lengths accordingly.

Probably upset they don’t want our injured ones either.

It's all going to a crazy few weeks to go. You would think a few will go sooner rather than later. There is money about but the players we have we want gone seems to be harder to sell or move on. I don't think we have many issues with the younger players but the McAtee lack of sale yet seems strange to me

That marked part is not possible.
Basic FIFA rules make clear that a loan player is NOT registered for the mother club during a loan period!

You can find the reason here:

FIFA rules and regulations 2023 version:
https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/40da0...atus-and-Transfer-of-Players-2023-edition.pdf

"ARTICLE 5 – REGISTRATION:
...
3. A player may only be registered with one club at a time."

That short sentence couldn't be any clearer IMO.
I was quoting AI - but I think the outcome is the same, and thanks for heading to FIFA regs, I hadn't done that (and looks like AI hadn't either!). Perhaps it needs to say something like whilst their contract is held by an English/Welsh club their registration to a foreign club for a period of time means that they will can not be regarded as Club Trained or Home Grown.

Which is also why a player loaned to another E&W club can still be counted as HG for both PL & CL because it doesn't matter which nationally associated club they play for.

The confusion - and it is interesting that AI uses likely and generally ( like a lawyer hedging their bets) - is the different wordings that each regulation uses. UEFA say, "A "club-trained player" is a player who, between the ages of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of the player's nationality and age, has been registered with the player's current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons. Taking the FIFA regulation that means that you add together the months when they were registered to play for the Club who holds their contract to make up 36. Much easier when they come through your youth system and don't go on loan aged 15-18. But you can see why it is not at all clear to the casual observer.

"Quoting AI" ?! Beam me up Scotty . . .

No I can't. It's absolutely clear and easy to understand.

1. Check the club history of a player, that means from when to when a player has been registered to a club or the national association.
2. Check the birth date of the player to find out when he turns 21.
3. Find out if the player was registered for 36 months for the club or association til the end of the season in which he turned 21.

If someone doesn't know how to do those 3 steps he could always ask for help instead of speculating or spreading nonsense.

And on AI, don't let me start on that topic. AI isn't intelligent, it's just super quick (and energy wasting). You have been giving just another example...

EDIT:
The player's contract has no influence on the HG calculation! None.
Only the registration matters. If a player goes on loan he isn't registered anymore with his mother club (holding his contract), as he - and never forget this sentence ;) - can only be registered with 1 club at a time.

So AS roma want an option to buy at 33m and then give us a 40m buyback clause, so they want us to pay them 7m for us loaning them our player, sounds like a cracking deal if you're an idiot.

Sounds like a typical offer from Italy. Tell em to do one.

Pep and Viana had now few days in Manchester and both seen the size of the squad. Wolves game coming up soon and Pep can only pick 20 players for matchday.

which 10 players will miss out even from match squad?

Pep can pick 9 players for bench.

there is no way these miss out if fit:
Ederson, Trafford, Ait Nouri, Gvardiol, Ake, Stones, Dias, Akanji, Lewis, Nunes, Rodri, Bernardo, Gundo, Foden, Cherki, Reijnders, Savinho, Marmoush, Doku, Haaland
and this is 20 players.

so it still leaves OReilly, Bobb, Khusanov, Nico G., Ortega, Grealish (+Reis, Echeverri, Nypan-all could be loaned out in next 10 days, Kova and Phillips both injured)
this is a bit uncomfortable for Pep imo.

during the season on average I guess 3 injuries at any time is about good estimate (some weeks it will be 5-6), which forces more of a rotation, but at the start with low number of injuries it will be bit strange.
especially for Khusanov, Nico who just arrived in January and already may feel bit out of loop.
Oreilly can even be bit of a match winner from bench, Bobb also want to be involved and show his talent.

even the Turkey rumours died down bit for Akanji, Gundo. no offers for Grealish. Ortega free to go. do we really keep all of Ake, Akanji, Stones?

Stones was on SSN before saying staying and ready to crack the fuck on.

And after the transfer window (1 Sep) we will have to register a '25' man squad and we have around 30 senior players at the moment. SSN are reporting that Simpson-Pusey and Alleyne are close to loan deals but we need to move on players who are > 21 years old.
