BBC radio does get funded by the licence fee but you don’t have to have a licence to listen to it. You only need a licence for TV.How does the radio output get paid for then? I always assumed it was 95%+ by the licence fee?

David Cross once told me that the happiest time of each week was 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon when the match was over. But we did replace him with er... David Cross....
Always made me laugh that Birtles had "Sharp" on the front of his shirt. My first away game, taken by my Dad.If I remember correctly, the chant was Francis 2 Birtles 0 hallelujah!?Early season, sunny warm day,and quite a few in fancy dress!I think Birtles had been there for the whole of the previous season and was still yet to score.Think it ended 3-1,..great day!
Based on that 82-83 season I'm not surprised, we were bloody awful from week 1 - bloody back up strikers to Cross were Chris Jones a Spurs reject who then barely played and Phil Boyer who was perma-crockedDavid Cross once told me that the happiest time of each week was 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon when the match was over.
Yeah but in the other hand any of our lot would have been ace as a 'brother'Always made me laugh that Birtles had "Sharp" on the front of his shirt.
He wasn’t the only one ;)David Cross once told me that the happiest time of each week was 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon when the match was over.
Although after 3 wins out of 3 and top of the league - the future seemed bright,,,,,,,,,,till the lights went outBased on that 82-83 season I'm not surprised, we were bloody awful from week 1 - bloody back up strikers to Cross were Chris Jones a Spurs reject who then barely played and Phil Boyer who was perma-crocked
We shall see what they said to my FoI about Stone is role and brief and if they supply the numbers I requested about his trips and articlesI did complain to the Beeb amount Stone being Chief Football Writer but only writing about one club. They said he was employed to only cover United but said they were advertising for more journalists to cover other PL teams. I asked them about the adverts and the only one they could point to was for someone to cover Newcastle. Their coverage is completely dominated by the Rags but they won’t have it Absolutely joke of an organisation.
Correct! The BBC do have a commercial arm that raises money from productions they sell to foreign broadcasters or licensing of shows such as Top GearBBC radio does get funded by the licence fee but you don’t have to have a licence to listen to it. You only need a licence for TV.

Third time lucky hopefully but he's Roan's creature. That blister is on thin ice, I've been watching Dexter (@Damocles please note)I’ve raised a couple of FOIs re Stone. The BBC refused to give me anything and when I pushed back they got increasingly aggressive and shitty. Good luck.
That’s what I’m expecting but I’ll take it to the information commissioner if I don’t get the answers at the very least it will cost them time The IC tends to side with the public unless it’s covered by one of the exceptions in the actI’ve raised a couple of FOIs re Stone. Exactly mate. I agree with you about the massive value of all the audio output, and whilst some of the, ahem, “bigger talent” on R2 are hugely overpaid, I think it represents its moneys worth overall. That’s before you even factor in the lack of adverts.BBC radio does get funded by the licence fee but you don’t have to have a licence to listen to it. You only need a licence for TV.
Blaming BBC for the weather? And deliberately trying to make the UK population more miserable?Fuck all.
Even the weather reports are dramaticly exaggerated to try and pour more misery
yeah but Carol at least wears snug dresses to cheer viewers upBlaming BBC for the weather? And deliberately trying to make the UK population more miserable?
And I thought I’d heard it all.
Simon Stone now retweeting tweets from ex players (David de Gea) regarding a friendly at OT this weekend.
There’s a lot to pick up on there, but is that reference to Empire a way of saying they should axe the world service? I’ve lived in a number of other countries and I found it invaluable. Maybe it doesn’t have a place today, but I’d need to know a bit more about listening figures. It used to do great drama but has now been overtaken by other providers. It does world class nature programmes. The BBC tries to do too much. We don’t have an empire any more. It should focus on providing great drama, a proper news service, excellent unbiased documentaries. And we should choose whether we purchase it or not.
