his contract expires next summer, so leaves on free then? then I hope he has a meaningful season at least and can offers rotational help but for that he needs to be fit when called upon.

Let's be realistic here, not sentimental. Stones has been world class but he's been mostly injured last 2 seasons .We should be trying to offload him this summer because we simply cannot rely on him being fit anymore.

Spot on and a few others like him who realistically can’t be relied on as they unfortunately are injury prone,we can’t carry players who may only be available for 10 games a season..

Not having a go at your favourite Eccles Blue,just unfortunately a number of players are injury prone and we can’t rely on them throughout a whole season..

Love Stones to death but he has only made half the appearances in the league for us than VK in the same timescale and that's through injury not ability.

He has been for a few months because there's barely been any football and has had a break.

Sadly that never seems to be the case during the season. Let's hope we can get an active season out of him!

Still our best defender but I've resigned myself to the fact that if we get a good 20-25 games out of him in all competitions, then I'll take it.

Stones on form would be massive. Gives us a unique combination of athleticism, strength, and height, while also being very good with the ball. He is also surprisingly fast for having the aforementioned attributes. As crucial as Rodri when it comes to defending against counterattacks. A threat on set pieces. We miss him and need him.

Stay fit John, play well and you gonna get contract extension.
