Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

Was Isak a prick for leaving Sociedad to make more money at Newcastle ?

There is a way of transferring clubs clubs though mate, amicably at least.

He has a contract, whether he likes it or not. Both parties have to be met satisfactory to do a deal. Not in a way where is forcing the clubs hand.

Also, if I am under contract at a company and decide I am not coming in to work, I am getting the sack. In some circumstances depending on the position I have in a company, I might be sued as well.

clearly Barcodes want their replacement first, but missed out on Ekitike and now in a dog fight for Sesko. if they lose out on him too who is next? Jackson from Chelsea? does feel a downgrade from Isak either way. they better hold onto Isak lol

I didn't read back but I was looking at our compliance with the homegrown rule and selling / loaning Echeverri or Reis makes no difference as the numbers of under-21 players are unlimited. I don't know why we are considering this because we are going to have to let go about 5 senior players. IMO we should be keeping Echeverri and Reis and selling the likes of Gundogan, Ortega, Gonzalez, Akanji, Grealish. I don't think many City fans realise that as things stand the likes of those senior players will not be able to play in the Premier League next season. City are going to have to make a choice and we are going to take some big hits in the transfer market. Galatassaray are probably trying it on with Ederson because they will know that City are going to be forced sellers in the next 2-3 weeks.
U21 players aren’t unlimited, both Echeverri and Reis would need to be in the 17 NHG list for CL and that’s the squad rules we will be trying to register. Doesn’t matter how many times you say who we should be selling ,we would but if we can’t we can’t, it’s the real world with real people and contracts. It isn’t Citys choice to make. Reis and Echeverri were unlikely to get many games whoever leaves anyway, they’ll come back next summer when there is spaces for them. It isn’t the big deal you and others are making out.
This is a 2 or 3 window rebuild ,not possible to do everything this window.

Absolutely agree, and (I believe) speaks to what I have been saying for quite a while now…while possession suits Pep’s City of the past few years of greatness, the game has moved on, and SIZE, SPEED and STRENGTH are the new 75% possession killers.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Pep integrates the fast break into his possession beliefs coupled with getting the ball wide.

With Haaland & Marmoush upfront, flying wingers, attacking full backs and exciting, creative attacking midfielders, 2025/26 looks like it could be a very interesting season for City fans.

To be honest, if we can tighten up against the fast break ourselves, there’s absolutely nothing to stop us sitting at the very top table, even though this is clearly a transitional season.

The top competitors have all spent massively in an attempt to cement their position in the Top 4 and give themselves a chance at the Trophy.

Let the games begin!
Are size, speed and strength new inventions?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s clear that the game is quicker than it has ever been, which, when coupled with strength and size, has changed the game dramatically in the last few years.

The technical ability of players today is higher than it has ever been, and not just amongst those 5’7” genius players teams used to hunt the globe for.

Today, technical ability comes in a 5’10” to 6’2” package, has the physique of a swimsuit model, lungs of a marathon runner, and could place in an Olympic sprint trial.

I grew up in and around the professional game. It wasn’t like this. The combination of size, speed and strength with apex technical ability may have been present in the odd world class player (Zidane immediately springs to mind, as does Ronaldo), but entire teams are now being built full of them.

That IS new.

From https://www.premierleague.com/en/news/4097471/premier-league-squad-lists-explained, "A club’s Under-21 players are not included on the 25-man squad lists. These players are also eligible to play in the Premier League. "

There's always been a trend of improved physicality vs time but there has been a step change recently.

I hope Sesko goes to Man Utd to stop the Scousers getting Isak

Liverpool have a weakness in defence and their forward line is thin. If Utd get Sesko, I don't see how Liverpool can get Isak and that would yield a major blow to Liverpool. City could win the title next season just by being decent. If Liverpool get Isak, they would become a 90 plus point team for not just 1 season but for years to come.

This is serious!

One of the reasons why our slow, possesion based sideways football isn't as effective anymore.

Teams are as fit as ever and we give them time to get back into shape and get set for the inevitable turnover and quick breakaway.

Most goals we concede next season will be from quick counters. We just lack that raw speed and strength at the back.

That's purely for the PL bud, their rules don't override UEFA's rules when playing in their competitions. City plan the squad around UEFA regulations since they're tougher to meet, any squad that meets UEFA rules is fine for the PL.

A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2004 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.

No one else’s fault you’re only 5 feet 5 mate ;)

Those things have always been part of the game. Didn’t stop us winning 4 in a row, the treble or the CL. One shit season doesn’t mean the game has changed dramatically.

Jackson is shite. Wish he’d go to the rags.

He gets in the position to score goals! He has score 24 goals in 65 appearances Sesko in a poorer league scored 39 in 87 appearances so not much difference! Rags get him they getting another young striker who is better than the tripe they have now! Another gamble for them
