I’m not sure I agree with much of that.

The BBC clearly can’t compete with the pay per view channels for a lot of sport. The government should increase the number of ‘Crown Jewels’ sporting events what must be shown on terrestrial TV. Football is wel represented but is add all European Football Finals, the Championship Play Off Final and maybe the League Cup Final. In other sports The Ashes, The Lions Test Matches and The Masters (Golf) should be added.

As for ‘talking about football’. I’d like to see the quality coverage we get of cricket applied to football. There’s little actual analysis of what happens in the pitch. When was the last time you learned anything about the game from a highly paid pundit. The game is pitched by the TV companies at people who don’t actually like the game.

I care about the BBC. I wish the government, of whatever hue, would be strong enough to support what it does.

To be fair I didn't expect you'd agree with it but there again I have a bias to be wanting to hold the ceremonial match that burns the shit-show down.

Ohh and fuck their idea of sporting crown jewels, football should have been their top priority but it wasn't they even crept into bed with SKY for profit at the expense of licence fee payers.

I care that the BBC doesn't exist any more.

The licence fee was formed when people didn't have a choice so they couldn't go elsewhere, now the licence fee just looks and feels like the scam it is.

You get the distinct (Fuck you we'll do what we want) vibe from them most of the time, I want it to close and for it never to open its doors again because it hasn't fed the public appetite for what the majority want for a considerable time now.
Its simple just ring them and tell them you dont need a licence , not heard from them since

They appear to just get sport on the cheap, why bid seriously for the football when you can get Horse Of The Year at a fraction of the cost?

When the fucknut took over the sporting editors job and suggested that we should be fed less football and more talking it shows just how out of touch these people are, in a lot of cases they don't care about the cultural importance of the BBC.

And because they don't people now don't really care about it at all.
Van Nistlerooy having his own programme is taking things too far.

you only have to look at how many major live sport events theyve stopped broadcasting

So where does the average Mancunian FOC, slightly left of centre but not by much, with an interest in current affairs and sport go to get his, or her, daily dose of impartial, informative and honest news?

No such thing exists, there is no impartiality anywhere it's just left or right but you do get people trying to dress themselves up as peacekeepers but they are lying.

It's a binary world.

You’re supposed to trust ‘the market’ and buy the Daily Mail.

I have absolutely no evidence for my opinion, but I believe that when the government were responsible for the licence fee, they wanted to cut the free TV licence for pensioners over 75 but were afraid of the public reaction.
The solution was to hand the funding responsibility to the BBC and agree to allow the BBC to cut this concession; followed by cynical faux outrage when it was announced.

I can't argue against your reasoning, but they were still using pit ponies when this licence fee scam came out, now it's just one great big junket offering little to nobody in particular.

But they make decent wildlife programs only papers over the cracks of what is a pretty sparse line up of shite from Celebrity Mastercock and Strictly Snorting Ketamine And Shagging My Marries Partner.

Call me cynical :)

I’m on blood pressure medication as it is. I’ve stopped getting too wound up by the Daily Mail Massive and just feel sympathy for their blind faith that Nigel and Tommy ‘speak for the people’!
