Lucas Paquetá

his best season was 22/23 clearly, since then he had two much more average seasons. would have been a very expensive transfer at the time on the back of his best season ever.

They were trying for a lifetime ban, surely he gets some consideration for lower performances in the last 2 years? Not that I think we're interested any longer.

I like him, think he's clearly better than MGW, at least for our style of play. But can't see him being a starter, unless he works much harder than both Foden and Cherki.

We’ve got Foden Cherki BSilva Reijnders Gündoğan Kovačić Marmoush Nunes Bobb Echeverri McAtee O’Reilly and even Lewis and Grealish, and Nypan out on loan, who can play in either the 8 or 10 positions.

How many do we need? At this rate our midfielders are only going to play about 5 games each to keep them happy.

Sell McAtee, Grealish, Gundog & Kova, & replace with Paqueta? That's one foreign spot less, 3 midfielders less & for a Brazilian international midfielder who can cover No 6, No 8 & No 10 for the next 4 years.

So how does this work if we sign him?

Then Kova is added to the transfer out list which @Damien10 provided? He would play as a 8, Kovacic/Gundo role probably, Cherki/Foden should have the 10

He has a deal till 2027 + one year extension so price would be in region of 50-60mil
Don't worry,we won't be signing him

While we do have a plethora of midfielders/attacking midfielders, many of them are either young, unproven in England, inconsistent, or injury prone. Paqueta is battle-hardened and presumably wants a final bite at the big time, maybe even has a point to prove. Wouldn’t be against him coming, but many pieces on the chess board would have to be moved around or even taken off it for that to happen.

I can only really see this happening if we promised him if he was cleared we’d sign him.

Talk in Brazil of Jack going the other way but can’t see that happening

Assume Pep's plan would be to convert him to Right Full Back, as we surely cant be in the market for yet another slow paced midfielder to add to our collection of them?
