Season Tickets - 2025/26 | Changes to ticket transfer this season (p101)

@Prestwich_Blue mentioned that City Matters had gone back to City urging them to make changes having had hardly any consultation time. Looks like they’ve listened.
Interesting how they don’t mention Seasoncard holder to Seasoncard holder in the email.
Hopefully dialogue still ongoing.
But I won’t hold my breath.
This is what happens when they don't consult. In the Business Analysis world I work in, we have a technique called 'The 7 so-whats'.

It's about trying to understand the consequences of the proposals or solutions you come up with. The theory is that it can take seven iterations to fully tease out all the consequences of a given course of action.

I think City have a different view of the meaning of 'so what'.

You can transfer cup tickets (if you are on the scheme) to another season ticket holder who isn’t on the scheme

However if you are not on the scheme and you buy one , it’s not transferable
The website seems pretty clear cut about this?

Without boring everyone my daughter suffers from a medical condition which can sometimes mean that three hours before kick off she is fine one hour later she can't attend a match. Previous season a few quick phone calls and someone will take the ticket and back in the day with it being an actual ticket I could meet that person outside the turnstile etc. It might have been someone unemployed who couldn't afford a ticket, it could have been the son of a mate back from uni etc. The point is that the seat was used, someone was grateful and it was always a City fan. Then along came digital SC which made it slightly harder although as we know it is possible to have two tickets on one phone so not too bad. Now it's more than likely seats will be either empty of the club will make it really easy for tickets to be listed on the ticket exchange so they can sell at inflated prices or because all of this is a pain it will end up with people either not attending the number of games the club wants or people will be so pissed they will stop coming. Gives the club what they want, more match day tickets to sell. Someone tell me that this isn't what the club wants as I am pretty sure it is exactly the scenario they want!

Another question that doesn’t seem to be answered: I’m ‘strongly linked’ with my Dad and brother, will I be able to transfer one of their tickets to one of my non-members in case one of theirs is spare? Brother works shifts so happens a lot

I'd say 'yes', as being strongly linked should allow you to manage their tickets.

I did mine yesterday based on deadline being Monday and going away.
Now this new email says it can be changed in October but if already submitted you cannot change… Typical City strikes again

I’ve got the email that says that. I specifically asked about ST holders who are on your F&F list. I got this back.
Presumably, the wording here also means you cannot transfer more than one ticket to a paid up member either, meaning someone can’t have 3 tickets, for the group they’re with, on their phone?

Hi

Thank you for your email.

You will not be able to transfer your ticket to another season ticket holder this season.

Ticketing criteria is one per member, meaning they will not be able to have two tickets in their name.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Manchester City

I think they are using us to proof read and beta test their systems. Saves employing anyone.

Presumably the fact they have banned a season ticket holder having two cards means the identity of the second person is not masked. Currently I give my ticket to the chap I sit next to if I cannot go and takes his son. I have the chap set up to transfer so he just gets his son in. There is no record of the son being at the match. I suspect lots do the same. No idea what is happening with facial recognition but it may be confusing for the poor machine if There are faces it cannot put a name to.

Just had another email from the club:

This season you will be able transfer tickets to Cityzens Official Members, as well as three fans who do not have a Cityzens Official Membership.

In order to get some fans without a Cityzen Official Membership listed in time for the start of the season, we are encouraging Season Ticket Members to nominate up to three selected non-members before the first nomination window closes at 5pm, Monday 11th August.

This is because non-members will need to be nominated in this way in order to receive a transferred ticket.

But don’t worry, if you would prefer, you can register one, two or three of your non-members later in the season when we open a second window for fans in October.

There will also be another window in the second half of the Premier League season. More information on both windows will be issued ahead of their opening.

Please note, once you have nominated three non-members, you won’t be able to swap them for other fans unless there are extenuating personal circumstances which require you to do so. If this is the case, please contact our Access team.

In the meantime, you can continue to list as many Cityzens Official Members as you please throughout the course of the season
Just had the same email and my immediate reaction is how on earth did they manage to come up with this policy and why ? This has the feeling of someone with a solution looking for a problem. Absolutely ridiculous.

So when are they asking for our faces then because as far as I know they don’t know what I look like, that’s only going to work if they have something to compare it to?

The first time you use the new turnstiles they’ll have your face. They’ll then compare that image with every time your ticket is used to see how many different people are using the ticket, and what demographic you are (age, address, frequency you visit the Etihad, how much you spend at concessions and in the store). They’ll also check to make sure your face is the same age profile as the ticket being used. Once they have the photo and demographics they can do all kinds of things. Even comparing your photo to your data to see things like ethnicity, how affluent you are, life expectancy. They can feed this into their marketing profiles and activity and financial projections, to squeeze every penny out of every seat in the stadium and more importantly so that they can prove to sponsors who’s seeing their brands to drive up that revenue stream. Data is the new oil. They won’t admit they’re doing this. Then they’ll bury it in the T&Cs of next year’s tickets.

haha...a bit of Taiichi Ohno 5 Why's scientific root cause approach then. Just completed a course briefly covering this.

Doesn't really seem like it was your choice to be done, they have decided they don't want you !
