Brighton like Mcatee don’t they? £70m and Mcatee? Or £105m to Brighton and they buy Mcatee for £35m?

This line has become a bit of a canard that the media rollout. We heard that Pep had been tracking Nico since his academy days at Barcelona and was a big admirer of him. He gets here and Pep barely seems interested.
 
Teams like Brighton won’t want to do any deal with us if there is another option for a player to go to! Like Villa when we were trying to buy Grealish we put up the 100m and they were still trying to sell him to another club asking around!

Personally I’d rather have Wharton

Tbh i have read that Pep has been longtime admirer of half the world

Well he is only 21 tho, i doubt any other footballer than Messi and Yamal had showed something extraordinary

He has potential to be top tear player and at this point the fee Brighton is asking imho is worth it

Market is fucked anyway and while we won the APT case we should be banging in sponsorship deals and making a couple of big transfers! Worst case, GUnfogan, Bernardo and Kovacic are all gone next summer but if Baleba came in then maybe Gundogan and Kovacic go this summer?

There is something to be said about potential, but £100m is a benchmark that very, very few players are worth and he isn't there yet. City went down that rabbit hole once in terms of price and it was only for a player who was viewed as one of the best in the country at the time who was also HG and very, very marketable. This guy hasn't shown he's worth anywhere near that yet in terms of production and certainly not in terms of value off the pitch.
 
Remember that striker Brighton had when he went through a hot spell they said not even 100m will buy him! That player now is out on loan!
