Palestine Action

History will show that supporting the actions of Israel was very, very wrong.
History will show that continuing to supply arms to Israel was very, very wrong.
History will show that attempting to curtail the right to peaceful protest about Israel was very, very wrong.
History will show the use of 'anti-semitism' was a tactical deflecton that allowed violent genocide by the state of Israel to continue.

I was at the march in Liverpool, yesterday, marching for peace and humanity.
I can only speak of my own intention. I cannot support land seizure, home seizure, and the wilful starvation of children. I cannot support the sneering grasps of the flag of St George while we send weapons overseas that drive people from their homelands. The actions of our own government and the US government, and swathes of the British media, are complicit, IMO.

If it’s that obvious that the people being arrested are a bunch of self-serving attention seekers, then why are you and so many others getting so angry about it?
Probably because we think it’s an absolutely ridiculous thing to be arresting people for.I’m sure many good people throughout history have been prepared to be arrested by making a stand against something they believe to be a unjust. This is no different.

You seem more concerned about having a go at people protesting than the mass murder and starvation that this government and media are complicit in. Strange times

No shit Sherlock.

What you have done to stop the genocide?

What have you done?

When do we get to hear you’ve been arrested if that’s the measure of being seen to do something?

People can protest about the situation in Gaza, if they wish.

People can protest about the terror legislation, if they wish.

The people arrested yesterday were doing neither of those.

The people arrested yesterday had a choice to march peacefully, with others showing support for Palestine and its people, or to show support for a group regarded as terrorists by our government. They chose the latter.

The co founder of Palestine Action has previously been charged with expressing and encouraging support for Hamas at rallies and for encouraging criminal violence.

With respect to Palestine Action, the home secratary said its “attacks” included at a Thales factory in Glasgow in 2022, and last year at Instro Precision in Kent and Elbit Systems UK in Bristol, adding: “The attack on the Thales defence factory in Glasgow caused over £1m worth of damage to parts essential for submarines. Staff fled for safety as pyrotechnics and smoke bombs were thrown in evacuation areas.

This before members broke into an RAF base and disabled a UK defense plane. If you attack our country's ability to defend itself that should make you a terrorist.

I fully support the right of people to express an opinion and march for change. The genocide happening in Gaza is abhorrent but this group aren't some sweet and innocents. They're getting what they deserve.......

......now don't get me started on Just Stop Oil.

You are missing the point. If a group like Palestine Action cause criminal damage then you arrest them for criminal damage. No one has an issue with this. But do not, under any circumstances, make them a rallying point for people’s outrage and get to the point where you are arresting blind grannies for carrying a fucking placard.

It is beyond stupidity. It makes the authorities look heavy handed and inept. The police will start arresting people for even been in the vicinity of someone carrying a placard and you end up with 400 or so people being arrested for fuck all.

If people can’t see the problem with this, even on a tactical level, then they are as blind as the aforementioned granny.

Police gave opportunity to leave that rally point before the arrests.

You're missing the point. Too many people in this country no longer take responsibility for their own actions, or indeed for educating themselves before jumping on a bandwagon. They could have marched peacefully, they'd been warned what would happen, they were given the opportunity to leave. They didn't.

What have you done?

When do we get to hear you’ve been arrested if that’s the measure of being seen to do something?
So you’ve done nothing then, apart from snipe on a football forum at those doing what they can, at personal cost.

"What did you do in the war, Daddy?" was a famous poster.

To all of you "getting angry" at people protesting about genocide, what have you done to stop the genocide?

No too many people in this country and the world don't give a fuck about anything beyond their little bubble. If you think people caring about dead and starving kids is anywhere near the top of taking responsibility for your own actions then that is some fucked up way of looking af things.

Police gave opportunity to leave that rally point before the arrests.

So people are committing an arrestable offence and the police are inviting them to move on before they are obliged to take action? That alone tells you what the police think of this sorry state of affairs.

The Government created an offence where previously none existed and if they had left well alone we wouldn’t have found ourselves in arresting blind grannies territory. It is beyond dumb. The Govt dug a hole for themselves and their solution is to keep digging. How many have been arrested now in total? 500, 700? And if it gets to a 1,000, 5,000? What then? And all for wearing a fucking T-shirt with the plea to stop slaughtering people?

This nonsense undermines the rule of law, not enhance it.

100% correct. I'm pretty certain that no one in this country 'supports' every single law but most of us have enough common sense to realise it is not all about me, me, me, me. It is about what is best for the common good and society as a whole. We all have to compromise. For that, we have developed a rules based democracy where every 5 years or so we can, if we want, change government and direction. In between those five years we have the right to PEACEFUL protest to bring our point of view to public attention.

Bollocks. Firstly, 400 or so people did take responsibility for their actions. Like any civil disobedience they knew what they were doing and took the consequences. As for education - what, you need to do some research before deciding killing starving children is not a good thing? Is it some kind of moral dilemma that requires ‘education’ before deciding if it’s the right thing to do or not?
