Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I can’t help but feel pep is going to walk after this season. Bernardo, ederson, Gundo, stones contracts all expiring at season end and pep seemingly reluctant to let go of his older trusted players.

I think it’s obvious pep gets the final say on the squad make up. This to me feels very short sighted but throughout his time at city we have pretty much done whatever pep wants (which has clearly worked and kept him at city).

This just feels like one last hurrah with the ageing squad that has given the club, fans and pep so much. I know he signed a two year extension but if pep wanted to walk the club wouldn’t stop him.

Maybe I’m just talking absolute bollocks but I really feel next summer pep will leave, we will have a new manager who is more aligned with viana and the club will have a huge summer replacing gundogan, Bernardo etc.
I might be tempted to agree. If we hadn't already heard that 3 times already.

I think of the club felt he was going to leave (and he would be fair and lwt them know in confidence), they wouldn't be letting players like Savinho go.

So find it a strange read from this rumour, myself.

Similar situation to Alvarez last season , he was coming off the back of a lot of minutes the season before but ultimately knew he wasn’t first choice

We didn’t need to sell but decided to anyway due to the offer we received

If we get close to £60m including add ons then we will accept that

He’s not as good as Oscar Bobb and we have cover if we have injuries

We won’t be signing a replacement which was a mistake last season with Alvarez but I don’t think it would be in this scenario
And that’s part of the problem. No player should be thinking he’s first choice, and it’s up to the management to show that nobody is either. The moment someone thinks they are, you get a drop in individual standards and that quickly affects how others play.

We will be without Marmoush as well this season due to Afcon so I don't see us not signing a winger. If Savinho leaves.

Palmer had a half decent season last year and then even the Chelsea fans say his form dipped and he disappeared second half of the season..

Lets see where Palmer gets to in a few seasons shall we
Fair enough. But he did just run the game against the champions of Europe and lead Chelsea to the Club World Cup.

I'd take Palmer back in a heartbeat he's the best in his position in the Prem.

He believed in himself and it's paid off. I can see the same happening with Savinho. He'll be top class when it all clicks, which it will.

Savinho doesn't have the fight in him on the pitch, let's be honest he's an absolute fanny.

If he played for anyone else and carried on with those antics in another shirt we'd be calling him all sorts, he needs toughening up and fast.

Unsure about the balls to stay and fight for his part, when Palmer left City I thought it took balls to leave City and look for a new challenge, he wanted more game time and it's paid off for him big time he's playing serious well at Chelsea. Maybe Savinho will flourish at Tottenham if he does join.

If he stays with us he needs to improve his game and also the physical side of the game, if he goes so be it. That's life.
I agree. For me, the big difference between Palmer and Savinho is that Palmer didn’t really get the chance to prove himself here. He believed he was good enough to play regularly for us and therefore would be a success elsewhere. He has been proven right.

Savinho has had the chances Palmer didn’t get but has largely failed to deliver. Hes not getting the same amount of chances this year if he stays. Maybe he sees the writing is on the wall and has decided he is better off securing a big pay rise and therefore his future elsewhere?

Pep was clearly upset leaving Oscar out of the squad for Sav last season, not a problem he'll have rotating 3 CBs with expiring contracts this time round but I think his LW preference is a deciding factor here. Hope we get a RB at the end of this and 6'2" Archie Gray does fit his chunky versatile defender spec.

Marmoush as well I guess

I guess that's what the playmakers are for. Holding width in the 'horseshoe' didn't do much last season.

It looks to me like we're going for more goals - having lost a player who was in the conversation for our best ever, we need to spread the responsibility a bit more
We have a lot of young players in the attacking third, even if Savinho goes, and that inevitably means mistakes and drops in form. However, we also have a lot of young players whose future is central (Foden/Cherki/Bobb/Echeverri), yet their pathway there is currently blocked, so come 26-27 we need to have them already experienced playing in the engine room.

Problem is as i said in my original post is that IF he is saying he wants out it really shows something about his character that he aint up for the fight for a first team place - that says everything....I can actually see Sav as a Spurs player.....good player but ultimately not up for it at the very top.
Foden stayed and fought for his place
Bobb has had options to go out on loan and chose to stay (before he broke his leg)

Palmer wont reach the heights everyone thinks he will....very good player but he isnt a player to lead you to CL winners and PM league winners - he wont hit the heights of a KDB, Gundo, Foden, Kompany, Walker, Haaland etc.....he is a step below those level of players.

Can't believe some on here have the knives out for Savinho already. He's a young lad who is still settling in one of the toughest leagues. This talk of, he's a fanny, he hasn't got the balls, wow

Why would 2 English clubs deal in €s
Piss off Levy you tight arse with under £45m

And the left? Once Grealish goes, we only have Doku, Marmoush not being a natural wide player. We’re ultimately forcing players out wide (Foden/Bobb/Cherki) to accommodate others in midfield who have no long-term future at the club but who cannot be shifted.
We have to get rid of Grealish first. Then McAtee. Then we also have the academy and talents like Echeverri and Mukasa.

We are fine.

The club have chosen Bobb over Savio. We are struggling to shift older players and will make (hopefully) good money on a player that until being linked away numerous posters on here constantly said he wasn’t good enough.

If he was the best in his position (debatable), he no longer is now Cherki is in town.
