Plus any foul on him ,of which there were plenty, were fervently waived away by the bustard in the black.

I disagree and think the statement that he bottled it against Liverpool is accurate. I was at every game we played against them with Sterling in the side and he looked absolutely petrified of touching the ball. Which to me, is definable by the words "bottle job".

Ease Stones back into action, Pep may think twice about Ait Nouri debuting against Wolves and may prefer the defensive solidity of Ake. Can’t wait to see more of Cherki but maybe a cameo from the bench this week. It doesn’t bode well for Nico if he doesn’t start with Rodri and Kova out so let’s see what he’s got in there. Certainly wouldn’t disagree if he opted for Marmoush in place of Doku for example, and Gundo or Bernardo in that spot would be fine, would just prefer it not to be both of them in.

I only attended two games at that shithole during Raz’s City career - the CL fiasco and the Mahrez penalty game - so you’ve obviously a better idea than me of how well he played. Even so I think there’s a middle ground somewhere between “bottle job” and “ineffective” especially when, as @prestonibbo_mcfc points out, he would have been disinclined to take the ball in certain situations where a brutal (and unpunished) tackle was likely to follow

Not that Wolves fans need to practice their booing but they'll be in training for Nunes and Nouri. Good job Grealish isn't playing, might have been a bit much for them on the first game of the season.

If Gundo starts then it sets the tone for the season and no way Savinho starts with the chat about him leaving is rife.

Gündoğan was one of our best players from about February onwards last season. Fuck knows what Barça had done to him, he looked like his shit twin brother when he came back to us. But much better in a run that saw us with the best record in the league in the final four months of the season.

Plus it doesn’t have to set the tone for the season. Foden is currently injured, as soon as he’s fit he could slot straight in in Gundo’s place and the tone of the season changes.
