Well he played there Vs forest last season and was arguably the best player on the pitch. Got praised by Pep...

Didn't get a game there the next game.
He didn’t play v Crystal Palace in the next game but he was saved played centrally in an arguably much bigger game seven days later versus Juve in the Champions League and looked lost and out of his depth.

I’m gutted it never worked out for Jack in the end but I’m sure Pep gave him enough chances and he didn’t knuckle down and take them.

He played deeper against forest more of an 8. City play a variation of 4 3 3 more often than not, so there is no #10 role. He struggled at Villa as an 8, it wasn't his position there.

Sure but he got stuck out hugging the touch line again Vs Madrid, no?

Either way, I think we can all agree sticking him out far left isn't suited to him. He can actually shift a bit when he gets moving with the ball, he carries it so well, but the position he got asked to play for us gives him far less room to work in and was often expected to beat a player over 3 yards in a confined space from a standing start, which isn't in his locker, so he was really left to just cut back inside and lay it off.

If Everton utilise him like Villa did, we will see a completely different player, at least in terms with the choices he makes with the ball

That said, it's time for him to go if he wants to get some momentum back in his career. His time is up at city. It's irrelevant how well he does at Everton and if he looks great because he wasn't getting that opportunity here anyway

You can't change the formation to accommodate one player. Most 10s have been played as 8s in the 4 3 3 but there was only one game for him in 4 years there. At Everton he will play 10 maybe 11 still in a 4 2 3 1.

i can't ever recall furiously typing or typing furiously.

One of the few prem clubs we can hope he does well at, stays in the area with his family and welcome back at City anytime.
Didnt work out? Another treble winning season for him unlikely and he certainly did his bit.

A signing that pushes Everton further away from the relegation dog fight and a new ground , start for all , good luckView attachment 165631
It’s interesting that they will paint Grealish in his correct light now that he isn’t playing for us. He is a genuinely a good dude but the press always had it out for him here too. He brought some on himself but this side of him was always present

We wouldn't pay the extra for Kane and somehow out of nowhere ended up with Grealish payed for with the Kane transfer money. I thought he was ok. Something has gone on behind the scenes must have because there are worse players at City than Grealish even today.

Indeed..that's why it's time for him to go if he wants to play football in his preferred role, I.e not getting chalk on his boots being stuck on the touch line. He did a decent job, very good in spots but he simply wasn't suited.

No idea how we expected to use him when we signed him. But if it was to use him the exact way we I did, then I think it was a fairly poor signing in the sense we could've paid for cheaper for a player to cut back and play it to the nearest player 90%of the time

Like who exactly? Which players cost as much and have the same input (or lack of) as Jack? This whole thing is starting to seem personal with some of the posters here, much better players have been sold and the world didn't end.

This is football. You want results, He didn't step up, he's deadweight, Pep realised he couldn't keep up with the charade and decided to cut him off. That's all there is to it.

Blimey that’s some recollection …. was it on Gascogne’s watch or Paxman?

I think that story is from 2 or 3 years ago so I'd hold back on giving the media any credit yet.

He got given two games in that position. One against forest, in the middle of our rut and he was the best player on the pitch. We won comfortably against what turns out to be a very good forest side. He played there against juventus and was poor, as was the whole team and this is my whole point with Grealish, look how you judge him against juventus when as a team we was shite, yet so many players last year was awful, so many players got more minutes and consistent games and zero finger pointing. He got nowhere near enough changes last season, during a season we was pathetic, that’s pep’s stubbornness that. He never started two consecutive games and juventus aside, each time when called upon he played well. A lot of that was against fodder in cups but you can only play who you are against. He was never allowed to build up confidence and momentum as he’d be dropped the next week for an underperforming favourite of Peps. Had we been ok last year I’d be fine with it, to not utilise a player whilst we was crying out for help was criminal. The best example of that being the cup final and bringing a lad on to make his debut, a lad he now wants to ship out on loan. The treatment was poor from pep for me and if there was behind the scene issues then fair enough, he knows more than me but nobody can say jack got a chance last year because he absolutely did not and when you look at games he starts, we very rarely lose.

Grealish is the best player I have ever seen at holding the ball up and making a simple pass inside but City need our forwards to be more than that. He has to be able to beat a man, and he can no longer do that. I think he has slowed up a little because at Villa he would glide past players but I cannot imagine him doing that any more.

It will be interesting to see what role he plays at Everton. He will allow them to hold the ball in forward positions. I hope the move works out for him.

I think most people would agree that Nasri was the best at that

I don't think there are any mysteries. Does he get in your starting 11? He's too slow to play on the wing. At Everton they may find a different role for him, probably one involving keeping the ball upfront so that counter-attackers can join him but he doesn't have a role at City imo.

Yes he is good enough to play a squad role at City and can be useful but he wants to play and we can't give him starts every week.
