A lot of people seem emotionally attached to this idea of Gonzalez becoming a regular starter.

Personally I’ve seen very little in his performances to support such an opinion, and still less with regard to Guardiola’s team selections. He simply doesn’t play him.

I think it’s more likely that Reijnders would play as a six than Gonzalez, if required, at least until Rodri and Kovacic get back.

He has to start and not as a 6, He's immense at the top end of the pitch, Personally I hope it's Nico Gonzalez that starts with Reijnders playing in advanced areas, out of possession he also has the legs to get back and sit alongside Nico or whoever starts in that position until Rodri is back.

Don't see rodrygo as much of an upgrade only huge wages an extra £20 million spent and 4 years older than Savinho. Think Savinho was the better player in la liga and why haven't any other clubs come in for him if he's such a massive player
 
No more new players. We've already got about 10 who've never played for or who have less than a season's worth of experience.

The one exception I'd make is a RB.

Only just read this and I`ve made nearly the same comments ref the signing of Trafford who will be gutted if these rumours become a reality.

According to some reports, 2 of Arsenal, Chelsea and the dippers were interested (can't remember which 2) but he apparently wants us.

Nico isnt going to be trusted in that position until he proves he can be, it's too vital a position to push through with players who dont get it. if the 6 isnt on it, our entire gameplan suffers badly.

Reijnders needs to be freed up for the 3rd man runs, tying him down to a midfield 2 role gives him too much defensive responsibility and removes a large portion of the threat he can offer, or if he leaves his role to offer that threat, it then leaves us wide open on transition.

He's got to be played as a second 8 that acts as a 10, putting him as an 8 with a solo 6 and another 10, again leaves us wide open.

I would agree. If we have a central midfield pairing of Gonzalez and Reijnders, with Stones at the back, the latter steps up as Reijnders does, giving security and attacking power.

Don't be a stat nonce mate. Bernardo's numbers looked awful for seasons when he was clearly brilliant. You've got to watch the actual football, not just wank over numbers. There's watching and there's actually seeing - big difference. And Rodrygo only 24, hasn't even hit his prime yet. Already proven at the top level with Real and Brazil. And cl.
