Would rather go for leao
why mate?
Would rather go for leao
Was that not when we literally were? I fully expect us to beat ‘the best team in the world’ on January 3rd.
Rodrygo has always struck me as more of a regular character who just gets on with the game, as opposed to the flashy Galactico types interested in all the attention, a la Vinicius, Bellingham, Mbappe etcMy reservation about Rodrygo does not concern his abilities as a footballer. They are beyond question. I just wonder whether the environment he's been at in Madrid, with that stupid Galactico nonsense that surrounds them, is propitious to the atmosphere he'll find in the dressing room and on the training pitch.
City doesn't do “stars”, especially not under Pep. Just great team players.
If he can buy into that, fine. Let's go for him. A front line of Marmoush, Rodrygo, Haaland, with Foden and Cherki sitting just behind them, is positively ferocious.
(I don't particularly want to see Savinho go, by the way, and I certainly don't want to see Bobb go. We'll be going deep into four competitions — as we usually do — there'll be a need for everybody).
Precisely. We beat Fluminese in December 2023 to become FIFA World Club Cup Champions, and then we ran out of steam in April of that same season and Real Madrid emptied us on penalties. We literally were the best team in the world, so I doubt he meant so figuratively and, if anything, its use was probably barbed. It wasn't the treble season, it was the season we outplayed them but they scabbed a draw and won on pens.
Thanks for the information but I think this transfer is very speculative i.e., it probably will not happen. As someone who has watched Rodrygo week in week out for years, I can say he has some of the best touch and technique I have seen, but he is also one of the most passive players I've seen considering his ball playing talent. He disappears for long stretches, and generally is not someone to rely on when the going gets tough. He just doesn't demand the ball or have particular flair and creativity which he can use to unzip a defense with his own effort. Instead he plays very schematic within the team, extremely disciplined and conscientious. Maybe this would be the perfect fit for Pep ball, for certain playing under Ancelotti who allows all the creative freedom in the world was not the most suitable environment for him, he was often lost and confused and it felt like we're playing with 10 players. I'm not sure but maybe we ruined him for good, plugging him in wherever he is needed, to the point that now he's forgotten how to play on the left too.
He has good off ball instincts so he will get into goalscoring positions, but his finishing depends on his mood. And hes moody, make no mistake regardless of him being industrious, he has a big ego and complained about not being on the BDO list or not being mentioned in the same breath as Vini, Jude and Kylian. He's also physically not elite. He is reasonably quick but hes no Doku. He is also a lightweight, and this lack of physicality prevents him from playing upfront. Hes essentially a tweener, a jack of all trades and a master of none. Hes better than Savinho, but worse than Doku and probably Grealish. I would be thrilled if you guys pay 100 million for him, but I honestyl believe thats a slight overvalue. At the same time he might completely rediscover himself with this team and coach, so part of the fee we're demanding is based on potential for this. But I am quite happy we're moving on from him since he never made the leap we expected, never had the breakout season and only contributed sporadically.
I prefer Rodrygo. For all those yearning for Rodrygo, it’s at the expense of Bobb imo. I’d rather have another year of no trophies and have Bobb playing on the right
I mean if Savinho is on his way out and Romano is confirming all of this it might not be. We know that playing with the quartet of star attackers has left us extremely unbalanced and Rodrygo was always going to be the odd man out. Xabi is not Carlo and he won't just field the biggest names and ask them to figure it out, he has to make some kind of compromise. Its either Vini or Rodrygo since Jude and Mbappe are recent and very expensive signings, and Rodrygo is too proud to not be a starter. Thanks for the information but I think this transfer is very speculative i.e., it probably will not happen.
100% Bobb looked a decent prospect played a few scored a few and was having a good preseason. Then got injured. In the following months he became a world beater without playing.I prefer Rodrygo.
Rodrygo is a multiple CL and La Liga winner, hundreds of senior games, including for Real Madrid, Brazil, in La Liga, loads in the CL.
Oscar Bobb is a very talented lad who barely kicked the ball for us, and had a memorable cameo at Newcastle, but not tested in any way, shape or form.
You are either Bruno Rat or Salah and I claim my free copy of the Fordyboy 2025 Football Annual.
Yikes! No....Would rather go for leao

In short, stats matter. :) The numbers tell a similar story. He is Marmoush with better technique but less production. As someone who has watched Rodrygo week in week out for years, I can say he has some of the best touch and technique I have seen, but he is also one of the most passive players I've seen considering his ball playing talent. Rodrygo got stick from Madrid before 2024 UCL final because in a press conference he randomly started praising Man City and saying how we are the best club in the world and probably deserved to be here over them instead of talking about the upcoming final game against Dortmund. He's answered very complimentary in interviews about City as both a club on and off the field.
Liverpool is getting neither. If we don’t get him, I think he’ll go the dippers as back up to Isaac. All the more reason to get him imo
Bobb is a back-up winger he's not good enough to be the starter.100% Bobb looked a decent prospect played a few scored a few and was having a good preseason. Then got injured. In the following months he became a world beater without playing.
Anyone who would rather have Bobb at this moment than Rodrygo is just plain wrong. I hope, as we all do, that Bobb becomes a world class player but so far all I've seen is a talented kid with a couple of decent cameos. In 12 months or 5 years I might hold my hands up and say I was wrong Bobb is the best player on the planet. But we've all seen decent kids fail to make the step up.
I think he'll prove that he is over the course of the season, even though playing on the wing isn't his best position. We'll see though.Bobb is a back-up winger he's not good enough to be the starter.
I’d throw 100 million on Doue before anyone100 mil on a player we don’t need.
Just throw that to PSG for Hakimi and see what they say. Atleast that transfer would make sense
Finally ! I love hearing opinions of rivals fans especially when it comes to players they watch week in week out.As someone who has watched Rodrygo week in week out for years, I can say he has some of the best touch and technique I have seen, but he is also one of the most passive players I've seen considering his ball playing talent.
