82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

I thought he did well as a midfielder last night. He needs to go on loan somewhere to perfect that role though imo.

He is not a right back. He just hasn't any physical attributes to be one. It's not just height, it's also strength and speed.

I'd prefer O'Reilly as a backup RB or even Ake.
Two left footed players as backup rb? Really?

For the record - I'm a huge doubter of Lewis.

That said - I think that Lewis was very good against Palermo in our friendly. If he can play to this level consistently, he'll be an asset to our side.

To be fair thats exactly how he played at the start of last season and in the year he got the England call up. In a stable side he is excellent, however in a flaky side like the remainder of last year he struggles. I think people seem to forget he is still only 20

Currently Should be nowhere near our squad tbh, and definitely not in the starting line up. If we do get a RB we should send him on loan to a bottom half PL team truth be told I genuinely don’t see him shining even at a team like Brentford or a West Ham too. The lad works hard and cares for the club ofc, but he’s just too much of a liability, opposition players target him in nearly every game. I remember what the Spurs players did to him last season at our ground. It’s the worst performance I seen from any player in a City shirt in years.

Give it a rest. He’s a good player with lots of potential.

“Worst performance I’ve seen in years” come off it. What is it with all these over the top dramatic posts.

lol, I don’t think people do, because his age, with the word “only” in front of it, gets brought up by those who rate him on here with remarkable consistency ;-)

In fact I fully expect if here’s still here in five years, to be reading posts reminding me “he’s only 25”.

Rather than his age (wow, he’ll be only 21 come November), I’d rather focus other aspects, like his 50 plus first team opportunities he’s already been given, and what he’s (not) done with them.

If we get offered a bit more for him, following their opening offer, my view is it would be good business to sell. No space for him in the front 6 positions (or cover for them), and though he’s not perfect in every respect as a RB, Nunes has developed a lot, and we have other players we could use there (that’s assuming no one new arrives). I think for a lower level team he could have an excellent career, and start on a regular basis. His attitude seems to be excellent too and if he does go, I’d wish him well.

You mean his 94 1st team appearances in all comps? Despite him being "just" 20 years old

Yet his detractors will pull up "just" one game to "prove" their point.
