22 | Vitor Reis - 2025/26 (on loan at Girona)

Frustrating that we've secured young talent and then moved it on, even on loan. But rather than take it as a sign of us acting rashly or mistakes in scouting, I take this as a sign that we are happy with the ability, fitness and commitment of the current, more experienced pros, namely as Stones, Ake and Akanji.

If we are going in to a season with fully fit Stones and Ake in particular, I'm happy. I'm sure there is a call back option too should someone suffer a big injury.

That would make a centre back pool of Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Ake and likely Khusanov. On paper it's ok, and indicates also potentially that we're continuing with our passing out from the cak despite recent claims we're going more kick and run like Klopp's dippers, which makes sense, but I think like most of us I'm slightly uneasy at the resilience of some of those to play intensively three times a week, and wonder where the dominating defensive displays will come from when needed.

Girona is like a black hole (or generally our loan policy), once you cross the event horizon there is no coming back from singularity. It was nice not to know you Vitor!

Akanji and Ake have 2 years left. This guy won’t play until 2027 since they definitely wont leave. At least Khusanov might get good game time when Ake and Stones have their usual injuries but then I remember it’s World Cup year and they might not get injured at all.

hoping he has a nice good loan spell. bit if an issue is this Girona dropped serious level from where they were when they got 4th and earned CL place.

without any european games maybe they can finish somewhere between 9-13th. quite brutal btw how little money is spent by La Liges sides apart from like top4. the other 16 clubs total combined spend is about matching what Sunderland (promoted to PL) spending this summer. thats sick.

Of course sky sports news put their ever present negativity on anything city saying he had limited game time and only made 4 appearances.
He was brought in for the future you absolute fuckin imbeciles.

God that fuckin channel honestly.
Have to be honest and say that some Blue Mooners are of the same opinion and don`t understand that he is a long term investment.

I take it as a sign of desperation in January.

Another exciting player we have in the bag.
He reminds me so much of John Stones and probably the reason why we bought him to replace Stones in a year or two.
He's actually better than stones at the same age IMO

I would have preferred him to be loaned out to a Premier league side to gain premiership experience but cfg obviously think he is already good enough and who am I to argue with that because there's no guarantee he'd start every week like he will at GIrona, so it's probably the wiser choice.

Sending this kid on loan and keeping Akanji is a proper sign that Pep isn’t OK in his football head.
Or the club are looking at the long term instead of the shrot term

A 19 year old is about to get 30+ senior appearances in one of Europe's top 5 leagues while our 30 year old centre backs are still here and still have something to offer

Was never going to be in our first team squad for a few seasons. Think we moved 6 months early to a. Make sure we secured him as others were circling and b) kept him because of the injuries. A decent loan to build him up confidence and experience wise is sensible and we use Khusanov as cover and to get a good number of minutes under his belt as he looks nearer the mark currently. Worry about Vitors pace but looks to be comfortable on the ball.
