We're the best in the league at playing out from the back, even if he has to roll or throw the ball to someone. Our outfield players can cope with it. And it might be a really good thing that we have to alter how we play out.
It could also bring teams on to us a bit more giving us the opportunity to play through them and potentially quicker and more direct, with the addition of the new players and what they'll bring to a change.

Can’t imagine he was lumping the ball downfield at PSG either

What are you on about mate? We regularly promise our young players a path into the first team and then pap them out when they can't compete with better players we sign. It is pretty much our model!
We have to sign those better players because of the levels we’re competing at. Foden and Rico have shown there is a path into the first team if you are good enough and patient.

Players like Sancho and Palmer wanted more than promises of a path into the first team, they wanted assurances that they would play - which Pep won’t give.

I personally think Trafford at 21 getting to work every day with this City crowd won’t do the boy any harm. If we do well in the cups he’ll still get 10-15 games which for a year would be fair. The challenge for him would become if donnarumma joins and stays a beast then what does Trafford do from there, and how does he bridge the gap for a few years until he’s our No.1. There’ll quickly be a plan in place.. his path is set for life if he wants it.
Trafford will get all the domestic cup games and possibly some of the early CL games. It’s his chance to show what he’s got and with a little less pressure on him. He does his job well and he will either be pushing for number 1, or highly sought after by other clubs. Signing Donnarumma is not career-ended for Trafford.

The rumours of Trafford going to Newcastle were to fight it out with Pope for the number 1, so he wouldn't have had it easy there either, easier but not easy.

There is a world of difference between fighting it out with Pope and Donnarumma. The whole reason why Newcastle wanted Trafford is because Pope simply isn't good enough.

He's 33, never lived up to his potential and he can't stay fit.

Donnarumma is Donnarumma. He's also only 3 years older than Trafford.

The Donnarumma signing is opportunist but changes nothing for Trafford this season, it may change the situation next season if he wants game time but that's next season's problem.

I think the part I'm struggling with is that we've known there's a high chance of Ederson leaving for over a year. And it's been known that Donnarumma is almost certainly going to leave PSG for months.

I just don't get why we wouldn't go for a backup who was a fraction of the price of Trafford. Especially when we look completely unwilling to splash the cash on the real problem position in the squad.
