According to Football Italia, the 26-year-old will earn an initial €15 million (£13m) annually throughout the first year of the five-year deal he will pen at the Etihad.

Donnarumma’s salary will then increase to €16m (£13.8m) for the second and third year before finally rising to €17m (£14.7m) for the last two years of the contract. There is also the option to extend the contract by a further year.

This is INSANE ! I haven’t seen anyone be signed with a basic salary that increases every year. Especially one that starts so high.

For context. Bernardo and Grealish are on 15.6m a year. Foden and Rodri on 11m

This signing makes no sense to me from a wage bill view. We could’ve easily afforded Rodrigo’s wages then. But we gave them to a GK ? How big is this wage bill gonna be, we don’t know the wages of Dias and Rodri when they both extend.

I’m no accountant but the club is so confusing
The only thing confusing is you believing anything from Football Italia. Did you not wonder how Italian media knows the details of a deal between an English & French club?

Positivity. I like it.

Is this really positivity or just plain honesty? If someone finds any fault with this move, they must be clinically depressed. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but such a person would be better off spending less time here and more with their doctors. Chasing butterflies down a country road would probably do them more good than hanging around on Bluemoon.

He is an Italian national and their captain, the interest will be high and links to agents etc.

Not that it makes it in any way more likely to be true, but it is not like he has quoted a claim from Fiji.
