It's Quiet the £250m return

Rodrygo left in his own car and not on the team bus after Madrids game yesterday. He was supposed to be on the bus according to Madrid media

What you're not getting is the old guard will all be gone within two seasons. We can't hold onto all the younger players & bed them in whilst the old guard play out their contracts. Squad quotas won't allow it.

We'll either have to loan out, or sell our younger players to accommodate the older ones that Pep wants to keep. If we loan out the younger squad players, how long will it then take for them to acclimatise & to bed in when/IF they return?

At some point the older injury-prone squad members have to be moved on, & that process should've started two years ago. This is poor squad planning, & based on what Guardiola & more tellingly Khaldoon said, the delay in rebuilding our squad was Pep's decision.

Last season & this summer we're suffering the ramifications. If that doesn't bother you, that's your business. Personally, I'm sickened & gutted, because it was so unnecessary.

It also leads me to believe that Guardiola was seriously thinking of leaving this summer, hence him probably wanting to wring a final season out of his treble winners, & leave our much needed rebuild to his successor.

The question then is, what's the role of the DoF? I thought they were supposed to keep the continuity of the squad intact, regardless of which manager was at the helm?

The fact that both Txiki & Guardiola were due to leave at the same time also suggests that Txiki may have wanted to leave the rebuild to his successor too. This wasn't in Manchester City's best interests.

It was the perfect storm, & last season we paid the price, & will continue to do so if Pep keeps the tactics & formation of last season which failed us, & retains the majority of the older players who clearly aren't fit enough to last a gruelling season, especially when you consider Pep's small squad philosophy.
So you keep saying, does it change anything ?, however I'll just deal with the real world as it is and with what we can do now and in the coming years, not get upset and sickened things aren't as I'd like them.

Rico in midfield final third is a quality player he is a 40/50m player they taking the piss with this 25m bid

Forest just chancing their arm it seems while discussions being sorted for Mcatee. Interesting that the bid was only rejected and didnt come with the caveat that he just wasnt for sale at all?

I’d want Lewis to stay sign a new contract and if he is happy as a squad player for the next 3/5 years he will sign it and sign a contract if not he will want to go

You'd think Rico Lewis has told his agent that he's open to a move, his agent has obviously informed clubs that his player is open to a move.

There's no wat Nottingham Forest would make a bid without been given the go ahead.

There could well be something in this, if there's genuine interest from Newcastle we need to use it in our favour and get Livramento as part of the deal.

Transfer window seems to be going a bit bat shit crazy for us.

Donnarumma for me would be a disaster on terms of how we play out from the back and it would be like having an Italian Nick Pope in goal for us.

Savinho i think has bags of potential and is young and coming into a second season under Pep which most players make big steps forward in. As for Rodrygo, never seen anything from him that makes me think hes anywhere near a 100mil player. Then you add in the rumor's on Lewis as well and seems we'd need to then go out and get a right back if that happens.

Gone from 'business all done' and looking good for the new season, to ripping the squad apart and bringing in players who don't really fit in with us.

Rumour is Trippier to Monaco. So they need someone else.

Possibly Rico trying to secure a new deal? I don’t think City would want to lose him, probably because he is English more than anything else.

If we could get Livramento and the cost was Rico had to go, it’s a no-brainer for me.

The playing out from the back era here is done, think that was pretty obvious last season.

I was thinking that he's after a new deal too, I looked it up and he signed a new 5 year contract in 2023 bringing it up to 2028 so it would be strange pushing for a new deal with still 3 years remaining on his current deal.

Maybe he's sees himself as being a bit part player again next season and he wants regular football. Who knows.

To be honest I'd say he'd struggle to become a regular with Nottingham Forest, they've Aina as their right back, they've Elliot Anderson, Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs White in central areas of midfield so it would be tough for him to cement a place in that team.

Clubs can bid on a player without tapping them up, in fact that’s how it should be

They can indeed although it seems to work differently these days compared to football years ago in which you've just mentioned.

Agents are always trying to move their players on these days either that or bluffing for new contracts.

I'd be more inclined to think that it's Rico agents putting the feelers out.

We were still doing it in the CWC and against Palermo.

We’re going to play a bit more direct and with more space in front of us, but that doesn’t mean we are going to stop passing it out from the back.

Donnaruma is Joe Hart levels of playing it out, and that’s why Enrique has replaced him, which is on record.

So for me, as our manager also got rid of our great shot stopper 10 years ago in favour of getting somebody who can play out from the back, the move makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I think we will still be reliant on a keeper who can actually play out though even if our overall style is changing.
When under pressure i'd imagine our players playing it back to the keeper before realising , shit, he can't do what Ederson does ha
