Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I wouldn’t be surprised if Pep hasn’t taken too kindly to Savinho’s attitude IF it’s true that he’s ready to leave because he’s not a guaranteed starter after one season with us where he played a lot more than others have done before him.

Stinks, that.
Conjecture, m'lord.

I can't make my mind up with him at all - he's clearly got a lot of tricks and he's quick and if he could pass and shoot he'd be world class. But he can't shoot and rarely picks out the right pass. I'm honestly not sure if these skills can (easily) be taught to be honest either.

If we had a small squad I definitely would keep him, but I'm not sure we would miss him either. However, I have a feeling that if he plays regularly and has a decent-ish team and manager he might do well. I'm not quite sure why it's not clicked for him with us to be honest.

I would be unhappy with the reported £50m as we've seen worse players go for more, but if we can effectively use his fee to get Rodrygo then I would be happy with that as he's a very good player.

tbf i get more a Gabriel Jesus case from him, hard working technical player, but has poor finishing and we are seeing how this is going at Arsenal atm

if he really wants to go, then welcome, no need to dwell on that

i think 55mil+10mil addons would suffice

Any sale is unlikely to go through before we play Spurs and a replacement lined up if that is deemed necessary. He's probably worth in the region of 60m all things considered. Will he progress to become world class, perhaps but its not guaranteed. I think we seen enough last season to suggest his career could go north or south. One things for sure if the price of him staying is that he gets to dictate playing time to Pep, he will be on his way by months end.

I watched KDBs assists YouTube video yesterday. One of the things that stood out was how switched on our wingers were to what he could do. Positional intelligence and making the right run at the right time something that I seldom see from Savinho and Doku. Watch prime Raheem, Leroy and Mahrez and let them make your mind up about Savinho. The number of tap ins Raheem scored at the far post was ridiculous. Leroy’s finishing was clinical and Mahrez contribution was huge.

I won't be making up my mind about 21 year old players based on the peak years of club legends.
What I will do is look at potential - what are his strengths, how could he improve.
I think Savinho has the potential to be top-drawer. If his mentality and fortune matches his football skill, we could be looking at a worldy, IMO. Time will tell who is right but I would love him to stay and fight for his place.

It will be interesting to witness how our wingers respond to Cherki as a creator, in the way that those former greats responded to KDB.

I think he will, in all fairness.

I don't think Spurs will offer what we want. I think what we want is onnthe oow side anyway, but we are reasonable that way.

I don't think he wants to leave enough to push it, I don't think we actively want to sign anyone else enough either.

This is all a bit reactive to an opportunist chance by spurs because they lost players. Push come to shove though, they won't pay up.

We don't need a replacement, but if we can use the 50-60m to fund Rodrygo then we should because players of that calibre don't come around often. If we don't get Rodrygo, I'd prefer we keep the attacking options we have already as we have soooo many who can play in wide positions (Foden, Cherki, Marmoush, Doku, Bobb, Bernardo etc)
