Is it Middlesbrough in particular you think is weird or him going to the Championship? In my opinion the Championship is a good step up for someone who comes from the Norwegian league.
People here defend anything and everything.
Sure Arsenal would have loaned him to Boro had they signed him

There are reasons why he is being loaned to Boro. Presumably, Boro guarantee him playing time (unlike better teams) and play in a way that suits his game.

Maybe a significant part of this is language. His English will no doubt already be good, coming from Scandinavia. A loan in the Championship will be a lot less complicated for him; he can concentrate more on his football.

People usually tell me I'm complaining too much or being too negative, first time hearing I defend anything and everything haha! But am not really sure what the problem is, we signed a 18y old talent from a very poor league and are loaning him out to a better one. He would most likely not have gotten significant minutes in a team like Girona, going from the Norweigan league to La Liga is a HUGE step. The championship seems like a reasonable loan destination no?

Actually, Eliteserien is not a very poor league. It’s ranked as number 12 in Europe just behind Greece but higher than Poland, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland and Sweden.
Doubt that very much since Sverre Nypan is a smart guy so it would not take him long time to learn a new language (his father is a CEO in a bank). Furthermore, the more languages you know the easier it is to learn a new one as long as it is the same languagegroup (learning the 3th is easier than the 2nd)

I think it is a positive move. Time will tell, but Boro is a decent sized club, playing in a competitive league, and they do try and play football. The standard in the Championship is way beyond our EDS. It seems like his family would have been closely involved in this decision too as they are reported to be very strategic in their career planning.
I am pleased also because it is more likely I will be able to follow his development more closely in that league.

Have we not previously sent a couple of players on loan to Middlesbrough and if I am remembering right either was recalled or got something like about 20 mins playing time..
