Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

@Ric can we ban this travesty of a word "uncs" - totally disrespectful to the players referred to who have brough such success.

Jay - so which of the older players in question is Savinho being kept back by and/or subject to huge bids for and so are relevant to his transfer? Stones? Ake? Dias? Gundogan? Kocacic? Silva?
What is disrespectful about that word actually it’s a sign of respect. I don’t know what you crying about. The word unc is an sign of respect in many countries and even whole continents. Some people here crying about everything?

It’s quite easy to explain. Due to the older players not moving like Bernardo, Kovacic, Akanji or whoever - some of the younger ones have to move. Alone due to the fact that pep wants a smaller squad + the non HG rule.

It’s the same discussion when someone said that the older players in midfield have nothing to do with Echeverri. Yes they do. You can only sub that many times and if pep somehow plays with 3 CM during some games it will lower their chances to get game time.

Sounds like he's definitely going but whether Pep wanted him to go is another thing altogether. Going off the presser today I'd say it's pretty unlikely anybody else will be coming in even if Sav, Mcatee and Ederson all go

Theres no point in selling him if we dont replace him?

Who is crying? Its definitely not a term of respect in the way it is used across social media - it may be outside of the UK but you are talking about a club based in the UK on a message board based in the UK.

Savinho is not potentially "moving" because of the senior players, certainly not Gundogan or Stones as you quoted who play in totally different positions. He is potentially moving because Spurs are making us very appealing offers where we could possibly get a better player for not much more.

So you would just want to keep players in the squad based on age and not their ability? Interesting approach - I suspect that Pep and the coaching team base their decisions on what is best for the team and the club and what they see from working with the players every day.

Players like Echeverri and Reis will be benefit from playing regularly not "being subbed on" which is why they are/likely to be loaned. And they will come back when the older players are then heading out of contracts more experienced and ready to play - its called succession planning.

Never mind whether “unc” is disrespectful or not, the main point here is that you sound like a 12 year old knob trying to sound cool, using it.

If we don't get a replacement we're giving up a potentially world class winger because we bought a CDM we didn't need in January it doesn't like we want to play and none of Akanji, Gundogan, Kovacic and Bernardo left.

How is the purchase of Nico related to this? If Savinho is sold we will most likely be signing another Brazilian?

Irony

One might have said the same about Palmer before his move to Chelsea, he hadn't scored a PL goal. Same age too.

Obviously, there's a risk. Savinho might become a better player than Rodrygo. The latter is a superior finisher but things change. Salah wasn't a great finisher when he was 21.

That's why we want 70m. Looks ridiculous for a player with 2 goals for City, but the potential is there.
Not sure palmer got anywhere near the minutes savinho has

Only if they are successful! Haha.

In all seriousness, it is very apparent that a lot of posters want to continue discussing last season when criticising players. Last season was a stand-out in that we didn't achieve what we wanted, and it disappointed us all. Singling out individuals for criticism, based only on last season, is flawed, IMO, as there was barely a player who could be said to have performed well, and the whole suffered.
If people wish to base performance on last season, fair enough, but then why not include other seasons so you have a balanced picture? Nobody would say that Phil Foden, for example, was an awful player, yet if you only judge him on last season he is not the player we know he is.
Tbh as for savinho if it means we get Rodrygo then I’m for him going as I don’t think he will ever get upto he standards we need but if he stays then I’m not fussed either and it’s the same with ederson

We are not selling him and not bringing anyone in.

If that's the attitude we are having we might as well call off the season, because we have pretty much done it with the RB position this summer.

Sold Walker, and not brought in a replacement.

I would never read too much into what Pep says in a presser. He likely hates every single person in that room and doesn't want to give them anything that will benefit them further.
