Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Can we talk about the seasons before ?
Only if they are successful! Haha.

In all seriousness, it is very apparent that a lot of posters want to continue discussing last season when criticising players. Last season was a stand-out in that we didn't achieve what we wanted, and it disappointed us all. Singling out individuals for criticism, based only on last season, is flawed, IMO, as there was barely a player who could be said to have performed well, and the whole suffered.
If people wish to base performance on last season, fair enough, but then why not include other seasons so you have a balanced picture? Nobody would say that Phil Foden, for example, was an awful player, yet if you only judge him on last season he is not the player we know he is.

I'm happy to keep Savinho. I'm happy to replace Savinho with a equivalent or better player.

Can't lose on this one.

I’m in exactly the boat on this one mate.

If he stays - great. He’s 21, and he’s come off the back of his first season in the PL. He’s shown plenty to suggest he’ll get better from here.

If he goes - we replace him with someone of equal quality, and we move on. We’ll hardly miss his contributions from last season all that much, so net we’re no worse off. And arguably could be stronger for it.

Either option is good with me.

Interesting stats. On the basis of them Doku is outperforming his xA and xG stats by a fair margin. Savinho is performing more or less to these stats albeit he overachieved in his assists and underperformed in scoring goals. Its difficult to draw firm conclusions as we certainly face more low blocks than most other teams and the whole team was underperforming. Haaland was as guilty of not making the best movements in the box as both of them were at failing to pick him out. Maybe I have been to harsh on both of them. Time will tell.

They both get involved a lot, and as a result fail a lot. We perhaps remember these a bit too much and forget some of the successes, but it does feel like there's room for improvement also (whether it's via them or a different player).

I like the cut of your jib Sir.

Gordon is a top player but i just cant stand him as a person?
Why though? Backed himself and went to a project he believed him to better himself when the whole nation and media tried to paint him as a villain for it. But stood in the storm and continued to develop into a brilliant player.

Years later his boyhood club, the same club that his whole family supports, tries to tap him up in their shady ways and despite probably wanting to move on to continue to better himself he accepts the fact that his current employer wants to keep him and acts as the proffesional he is paid to be. Meanwhile his shitty boyhood club tries the same with his Swedish teammate who then goes awol and throws a tantrum because Newcastle still don't want to be bullied.

I'd be over the moon if we could strike a deal for Gordon. He is a bit of a character but ultimately a good egg and the closest thing I have seen to 17/18 Sane in the way he floats down that left

Losing savinho but not any of the UNCS. I guess it had to be someone. Sad. I think savinho will go on to be even better and be an assist/ creation machine on the wings
Savinho wouldn’t be leaving unless he really wanted to.
