Is it not possible that this sudden influx of toxic, moronic City fans on social media is mostly just bots financed by the red cartel to unsettle our fanbase and players?

I’m not normally one for conspiracy theories but their arrival was very sudden, very loud and very poisonous.

I’m obviously not referring to Blue Moon, but mostly to those on social media, especially X, as there is pretty much the same number of fools on here as there’s always been.

There is a solution to the X problem. Don’t open any link. I have done that for a couple of years and feel much better about things.

I never thought it would happen and always thought our core support would shine through it all; but our fanbase has truly turned into that of all the idiotic fanbases like any other big club.

There are absolute cunts all over social media who are supposedly City fans. I’ve always been a fan of X for the football (+music and clobber) side of it, but in 2025 (and it is that recent) all the glory hunting wankers who latched onto us as we started winning everything can’t cope with anything that’s slightly not elite. There’s been a massive change with our fanbase.

All of a sudden any missed chance, misplaced pass or missed tackle means the player is a **** and needs killing and any defeat or bad run of form means Pep’s a **** and needs killing. All the ‘Maine Road fans’ are apparently pathetic wankers for putting up with the ‘embarrassment’ of losing a game or finishing third.

Impatient, un-resilient, desperate, uncool, desperately uncool people lacking in character have decided to latch onto this club.

I’m absolutely sick of it so I’ve sacked off X now, even though I’ll miss out on music news and catching good deals for clothing.

Ignore mate. X is what it is - have a peep on the politics sub-forum on here to see the types that still have anything to do with musks looney platform. Eventually through the likes/follows system any user just builds a huge echo chamber/mirror that reinforces their own cosy views. This can of course be hijacked by bots etc for whatever.

We had toxic fans long before the internet and X. Ian Bowyer, local lad booed out. Went on to win European Cups at Forest. Derrick Jeffries and the above mentioned Edghill treatment was awful. Pretty sure Corrigan got a good portion too in the early 70s. I remember Adrian Heath getting booed when he was coming on as a sub, though he was shite. Gordon Davies, Creaney, Kernaghan, Tony Coton, Kevin Bond, there is a longish list.

All true, but I think the venom on social media is different. My reasoning is that those on social media are actually charlatans. They may or may not be City fans, I do not know, but I believe that a huge portion do not believe what they write - they do it for engagement. They are characterless, and their insidious, pitiful sacrifice of their own integrity in the search for likes is polluting the social-media airwaves.

You may wish to consider the above a conspiracy theory - apparently there's a bbc program/podcast or something that may assist ;)

Yeah people seem to think toxicity was invented with the Internet.
As stated elsewhere, it was there back in the day but you had to back it up and if you didn't risked getting a twatting
