Sudden influx of toxic City fans

Toxic in what way exactly? Forums generally skew older and so posters have more patience and have been through more stuff with the club. X is younger and has character limits on what people post so can come across lacking nuance. Tiktok skews even younger and so less mature. People also post stuff to get reactions.

I generally tend to ignore most of what I see online. However, it does piss me off when I see players getting abuse of our "internet fans," most of whom live overseas. Obviously, when the media catch on, they fail to point this out and brand the abuse as coming from "City Fans".

We've had this with both Walker and Ederson in the past 12 months, where dickheads online have abused them, and we as a group of fans get the blame.

There are absolute cunts all over social media who are supposedly City fans. All the ‘Maine Road fans’ are apparently pathetic wankers for putting up with the ‘embarrassment’ of losing a game or finishing third.

Impatient, un-resilient, desperate, uncool, desperately uncool people lacking in character have decided to latch onto this club.

I’m absolutely sick of it so I’ve sacked off X now, even though I’ll miss out on music news and catching good deals for clothing.

Not sure it’s just people latching onto the club, mate. Plenty of people who’ve followed us for years have turned into spoilt, graceless, entitled cunts who demand that we should dominate every year and view finishing third and getting to an FA Cup Final as a disastrous season.

Winning six titles in seven seasons has warped whatever sense of reality they may have previously possessed because they don’t have a sense of perspective or sufficient critical thinking skills.

Nothing lasts forever. Why would it be any different for City?

I remember when I joined this board some fifteen years ago, certain comments would get rounded on as being ‘raggy’, but now similar posts (and worse) get posted without similar intervention as much of our support base have morphed into what they once despised and so those types of comments stand out less.

It’s also worth noting that any City fan under the age of 25 cannot remember a time we were out of the Premier League and so that will have an impact too.

Correct. You can go back over 50 years, to big Joe's first spell as our goalkeeper. We've always had our share of cunts in our fanbase. The stick Rico Lewis has come in for on here in the last 12-18 months has been shameful. But not all that surprising, given some of our fans' love for a scapegoat.
 
I would not let it bother you. They are not fans but followers. It's just people who like attention and latch onto a our Club because we are winners. By the same token they are life's losers who have no real attachments in life but like to stir. You would probably find that they have multiple accounts across many football clubs. We live in a toxic media age.

There was a phase around 2000-03 when the rags thought it highly amusing to pose as blues on radio phone-ins and say "We're a massive club" as many times as possible

In response, somebody posing as WHALEY BRIDGE CYNIC on the MEN "Have your Say" sports section queried:

"IF THE BUSBY BABES WERE SO GOOD THEN HOW COME WOLVES WERE TOP BY SIX POINTS AT THE TOP OF THE CRASH?"

He then proceeded to be as rude and obnoxious as possible whilst timing his posts to be just too late for the censor to remove

Christ, that guy got some abuse, but I've got broad shoulders

I do find some people on here toxic but they tend to be isolated in certain threads so can avoid..

I was thinking exactly the same as I read some shit this afternoon about Rodri that was so left field but getting loads of Likes. Not saying it was but it did get me thinking.
