It was an entertaining game last night, despite the deeply disappointing result.
It is very early days. I cannot stand the commentary of Liverpool games, with at least two misplaced passes by Wirtz being described as something entirely different, implying they were successfully completed by a go of the field. Wirtz' movement is extremely high-level and I think those doubting his quality will, ultimately, be disappointed. Early games are no basis for judgement really.
Liverpool, like us, offer loads in attack but will offer some defensive vulnerability. They will probably make a couple more signings and will be there or thereabouts.
The racist abuse of players is intolerable. I think the time has come for punishment by the game, and externally by legal authority and employers. It is a societal problem, emboldened by parasites in our political classes, but that is a discussion for another time and another thread. John Cross' assertion that Liverpool is a club steeped in respect is a little blinkered, as we all know.
