Pretty sure Corrigan got a good portion too in the early 70s. I remember Adrian Heath getting booed when he was coming on as a sub, though he was shite. Yes City fans have always criticised players and sometimes too much but that was on a different level
 
A higher % of people are idiots than we care to admit. Think of the average person you know, and what fucking moron they are. And then realize 50% are bigger twats than that.

That, combined with the new fans we attract didn't go through the tough times. It's been 16 years since we were bought, to put it in perspective. 14 since the FA cup win, and 13 since 93:20. A lot of fans either don't remember or didn't go through the bad times.
 
I think we've been lucky up to this point as we haven't had a many of the online idiots as other clubs, but with success it was bound to happen. like others have said there are some fans who have never known anything other than excellence so when the team go out of a cup before something like a quarter final this is a new experience and probably feels the same as I felt going out of the 3rd round in the fa cup to Halifax etc. So like we did calling out the players we thought weren't pulling their weight is nothing new. Only difference is we could only vent our displeasure if the said player dared ventured to close to the Kippax or a strongly worded letter the pink. where as today a wrongly placed pass can have people reaching for the keyboard within seconds.

I think most of the toxic stuff is made up by people who aren't even fans they've just seen a gap in the market and trying to get publicity from negative content. They've seen how so called fans from other clubs have become successful by putting negative stuff online, with the likes of Goldbride etc who get more exposure, clicks, likes etc the on more negative stuff they spout out

So unfortunately Manchester City are just the latest untapped sauce of revenue that some moron in a random geographical location who wants to take advantage of our success by buying a dodgy top off temu and talking complete rubbish about omething they have little knowledge of or actually care about.

Can you not just do what I do with X and just have an account where you don't interact with anyone and just follow accounts of interest? And stay away from the comments? I never click on the 'for you' tab as that's where all the exposure to the shite is and just stay on the 'following' tab. I never comment or tweet, just sit back and read tweets from the accounts I want to follow and don't get sucked into the comments and shit accounts.
And if you want to, use Brave browser too which eliminates all the shitty ads and you can save it as an app for your phone home screen, if you didn't know already.

He used to go to a sauna in Urmston I frequented most Fridays at that time. A red pal who knew Sammy, and was fully aware of my virulent opposition to his signing, said to him one afternoon "Tony was telling me how pleased he is to see you in a City shirt". He looked up at me and said "yeah, I'm fucking sure he was!".
 
I’ve said it before, but as it’s on topic, I’ll say it again … you should be able to see on here who are seasoncard holders or even have membership numbers and put their money up to support the club. Of course there will be genuine supporters who, for whatever reason, do not attend matches but I for one would like to know if the poster actually goes to any games. It would certainly help flag up any bogus posters who are out to stir shit up.
