We come from Maine Road, Manchester
Discussion on the train back yesterday, as that win was probably up there.

For me, best was Blackburn 2-0 Adebayor and Ireland, felt like we were at the start of something special.

Worst was Charlton 4-0, optimism bubble after promotion was quickly burst.

Another observation was we hardly ever start the season with a match at home.

There have been loads of good ones, but I will go for the 3-0 at Charlton when Sun topped it off.

The Villa game when Bojinov was named but got injured in the warm up wasn't great, contrasted to West Ham the opener before, but the Corradi debut was the worst for me in recent times as we were never in the game going 2-0 down early and then the hair pull etc.

Loved the one at West Ham. Was it Sven’s first match? We won 2-0. Incredible atmosphere in the away end. I remember thinking. Bloody hell this looks like proper football…all done at pace.

Best: 2011/12 Man City vs Swansea 4-0. Easy. Aguero debut, greatest City attacker ever. Knew we would challenge from that first game, never felt like that in my life.

Worst: 2006/07 Chelsea vs Man City 3-0. Expected to lose. Did lose. Looked out of our depth from the first game of the season.

I enjoyed City 4 Sheff Wed 1 in 1969, could have had 10 quite easily. I took my German pen “friend” who knew nothing about football and started counting goals during the kickabout

I seem to remember reading, we've requested an away start for the last number of years.

Maybe concerts/building working/getting the new pitch ready etc.

If I'm wrong on that then please someone correct me on it.

Plus if we haven't requested to start with an away fixture, then the system is bent and the fcukers are cheating thats for sure. I think it's 9 out of the last 10 years.

But I "think" we have asked for the first match to be away as it has suited our needs:-)

4-0 Charlton away was dire.
Keegans 1st game 3-0 Watford was as sign of things to come. 3-0 Blackpool has its place in history. 3-0 . Norwich 50 years ago yesterday, my 1st game.

Daft as it sounds but one of mine was the 0-1 defeat to wolves at home on our return to div1 in 1999/20
Wolves were a good team and given how we’d scraped out of div2 I had no good feelings going into this game
However we were excellent packed 31k+ in MaineRd got done by an excellent Robbie Keane goal
Drew away at Fulham then won next 4 games 5 if you include league Cup

Yesterday's performance and result against Wolves laid an old ghost for me.

For more than 60 years* I have carried the weight of us getting thrashed at Molineux by Wolves 8-1 on the opening day of the 1962-63 season.. and to add insult to injury, our consolation effort was an 'own goal', so Wolves players scored everything on that day, which Paul Hince of the MEN probably would've described as 'City in 9 -goal thriller'..!

To see the new lads show such great promise of things to come and to get such an emphatic result to send a marker out to the rest of the league and Europe, well it certainly was a tonic after last season's troubles!

(* yes, over 60 years that result has bothered me.. I know how to bear a grudge!)

West ham away under Sven was a highlight, chalk and cheese from the season before and felt really positive.
Away end was bouncing too
Was there that day :), and a stunning away top to match, was never a fan of le quok sportif but that top was quality
