Media discussion - 2025/26

What’s the background to our new dedicated BBC City reporter Shamoon ? I see he has an Arsenal pic on his private Twitter profile.

I presume one positive is we will never have the pleasure of Simon Stone at our press conferences again ??

I found his LinkedIn profile. He went to Heckmondwike Grammar School in West Yorkshire, where he did A Levels in 2006. He then studied Sports Journalism at Huddersfield, graduating in 2010.

Aside from one, the companies he follows on there and groups he's a member of betray no footballing allegiance. The lone exception, for what it's worth, is that he follows Manchester United FC.

The surprising thing for me is that he must be within 2 or 3 years of hitting 40. I thought from his witless attempts at "bantz" when he does the live text match coverage that he could only be a kid.

Sorry if this is patronising to younger posters. I just think someone of his age ought to have accumulated more experience of how to conduct himself with a little professionalism.

The Times - LFC`s Partner Sponsor - Standard Chartered

Elise Stefanik, a New York Republican congresswoman, who asked the US attorney general to probe Standard Chartered bank over alleged terrorist payments has had an impact on LFC`s long term, prominent partner sponsor who Liverpool are "proud" to be associated with.

"Shares in Standard Chartered have fallen in overnight trading in Hong Kong, trading down almost 4 per cent, as they catch up with a sharp sell-off in London on Friday. More than £2 billion was wiped off the value of Standard Chartered’s London-listed shares in late trading on Friday after they fell 8 per cent."

The fall followed comments over alleged terrorist payments.

Standard Chartered has previously been fined record amounts for financial irregularities.
Think the Premier League will bring out the 3 monkey's to deal with this situation. Blind, Deaf and Dumb !

Sly Sports now reporting a 47 year old man has been released on bail following allegations of racially abusing Bournemouth player Semenyo.

So far the media have referred to this anonymous individual as:

A spectator

A 47 year old man

An individual

Call him out for what he obviously is you coward fuckers: "A Liverpool fan"

Sly Sports ran a similar story yesterday about another incident involving an "individual" who was also arrested for alleged racial abuse towards a Bradford player.

The big difference is Sly were more than happy to refer to said individual as a Luton fan.

The media in this country is a disgrace and has got a lot to answer for.
Reported on BBC NW news as a Liverpool fan, a bit of progress I suppose. Banned from every football ground in the country.

Sky sports news.

"Arsenal pinched a 1-0 win.."

Neville laughing at PSR and probably knowing that the league don't look at the rags accounts.
Laughing to himself saying he doesn't know where utd are with PSR then stating the obvious by jokingly saying they magic up money from nowhere.

All on top of sky sports cheerleading the push for a new goalie, it fuckin stinks.

When you take into account that the PL was essentially set up by the cartel clubs, for the cartel clubs it all makes sense.

Good!

It's about time one of those media outlets referred to him as a Liverpool fan.

I know it would never happen, but I do sometimes wonder if it was Liverpool or the rags that were being investigating for 115 charges of financial irregularities how the media would frame it?

Would it be a pile on from all corners of the British Press and broadcasting media?

I strongly doubt it. After all if it's taken this long to connect an "alleged" racist to one of the most protected clubs in England, one would think the media would take full control of the narrative surrounding anything as controversial as that.
