Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I don’t get the comments in here being critical of Savinho. You’d think he’s pulled an Isak the way some people are talking.

So what if he’s had his head turned by what Spurs have offered. A huge pay rise and guaranteed regular football is an attractive proposition.

So long as he acts professional and works hard when he plays he should have all our support.
I mean, some would argue he signed a contract 12 months ago, and should really be fighting his way into the team, it's not as if he's been short of game time last season, is it?

The attitude of leaving a top club and going to a side that finished last season just outside the relegation zone, is the kind of attitude we laugh at when United bring in their latest big name signing!

I'm not fussed whether he stays or not tbh, but I'm not keen on the way he posted himself training at home a few hours before the Wolves game, 24 hours after Pep said he was injured.

I personally think he's realised that there is even more competition in the squad this season, and he'll get less game time; if I'm right, then that's not the attitude we want in the squad.

I’m gutted. Want him gone.

He’s shit and doesn’t want to be here. Rodrygo leagues ahead.

Shit all round.
He’s nowhere near shit.

13 assists in all comps in a first season in this country at 21 is very good, especially in a team that was unsettled with an injury crisis all season.

He seriously needs to work on his finishing, but at 21 he’s 5 years away from even entering his prime and has bags of time to improve on it.
Add, let’s say, 7 goals to an improvement to 15 assists this coming season, and you’re talking of someone on the rise. If he stays, let’s judge him more fairly after another season with hopefully a more settled team with fewer injuries and playing better.

Rodrygo is decent, but he’s not got 13 assists in any season in his career so far and he’s two years older than Savinho and plays in an easier league with far fewer packed defences sitting back. We’d only have people moaning about him next year if he replicated his 6 goals and 5 assist of last season at Madrid.

As Big Steve said in his recent video, there's no way we score that second goal with Savinho and no Bobb in the team. If Savinho leaving means Bobb gets more gametime then that's good for me as it means we will score more goals.
Bobb cannot start every game, and the more he plays, the more tape he generates, meaning the easier it is for opposing coaches to find ways to blunt his threat. It’s also generally harder for young players in the second half of a seasons, as the defenders have experience of playing you and are quicker to get physical, which can mean more injuries. We need strength in depth but that depth has to be spread evenly.

Great news that he’s staying. I’d much rather move on Doku next summer and replace him with Rodrygo. It made no sense signing Rodrygo seeing as he’s said he wants to play on the left. Bobb and Savinho fighting it out for the RW spot will be good for us.

Would have Rodrygo in the team over him any day.

Has everyone forgotten just how bad Savio was!?

He wasn’t even absent at the end of last season, he was an active hinderence.

He won’t get 5 goals next season. I’ve got mates at the club who say he’s arrogant as fuck and he clearly wants the move.

He’ll gee up the crowd at the Etihad by waving his arms and he’ll get the odd Ozil (5 yard pass edge of the box) assist.

His numbers are crap for a winger, but even if they were good, numbers aren’t everything. He’s fucking garbage. And nowhere near the level.

4D chess what I think.
There are many final twists to
Come, you just can’t take this at face value. This is a crazy window and situation will change. Hugo V in the situation room, Levy will come to the table last day of the window. Sit tight

Will be interesting to see how Savinho walks back from this. His pic on social media at the weekend clearly debunking the "hes injured" storyline to effectively take the piss - alongside the understood stance that he wanted out - means hes got some ground to make up.

Does he actually get into a squad of 18 atm - I dont think he does tbh, so theres some rocky road ahead for him and us. I dont think the match going fanbase will be too thrilled with him, put it that way.
He could easily be injured (to the point he can’t take part in a PL match) but still be able to train.

He needs to fight for his place, we don't have time for any sulkers. He needs to prove to Pep in training he deserves a starting place, not convinced he has the character or resilience.

I don't buy Balague's report, I can't imagine Romano wouldn't have gotten that report first, and his silence on it is telling.
Or they’re all trying to stand it up and city are considering what to brief. They’ll all run with it similar time this evening imo.

I'm with you. I honestly can't think of a single game last season where he destroyed a FB for a whole game. I can think of flashes here and there but nothing consistent. I've seen him fade out of games once the going gets tough. We should of snapped spurs hands off.

literally the first game of the last season against Chelsea. Not wolves but Chelsea. Had both wingers on both sides on skates

Agree mate . He will never get the numbers we need and in the end will not even make the squad so we have missed a trick there.

Indeed. The video on his Instragm account was him doing some seated cable chest presses. It’s hardly like he was doing weighted box jumps.

For all we know, what Pep said was actually true and he wasn’t able to train with the team because he did actually have a knock, maybe to his lower body which meant he could do chest presses at home easily but not any running about with a ball?

Yeah, but Raheem was still getting the suggestion made to him that he needed to work on his finishing after being top scorer in one season. Some people only see the shots that miss, but yer right he's got time cement the idea where the woodwork is!
