Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Interesting comments from Romano. I wonder who that figure is - Khaldoon? Soriano? Pep?

Romano doing what he always does, which is just posting whatever agents text him.

Savinho's agent wants the deal to happen so he can land a nice fat commission for himself, so he's pressuring City to cave to Spurs' £60m offer by making up this story about an awkward fucker in City's boardroom who's stopping the deal. It probably won't end with Savinho turning against City and submitting a transfer request but you can tell that's what his agent wants to happen.

That's rubbish. Palmer hardly played for us, you couldn't see anything. Only looks obvious now because of how he's done at chelshit.

It was obvious to anyone who watched him dominate for years at academy level. That skill isn't lost when you get to the big leagues.

It was also obvious from his early appearances for us.

Some of you seem to forget how good he was before he got his injury and his confidence took a not.

Comparing academy level to actual big leagues is a crazy feat. We should have an eleven out of academy talents only if they are all such big talents from the get-go. I guess the board made so many errors which wouldn’t happen if bluemoon members were a part of them.

Does he have the stomach to fight for his place, Bobb and Doku Will get the nod for starting positions and Marmoush and even Cherki can play out wide.
Savinho can play on both sides, so no reason he can't be rotated with both Oscar and Doku; plenty of games for all three.

I'd personally like to see him played on the left more often, as that's where he shone for Girona.

I wonder what people said about savinho first season. Didn’t he got it too? Top 4 in young talent Ballon d‘or. 19 scorer points at 19. 2nd best winger in La Liga. How did you see that Palmer was better? I‘d like to know unless you are pulling this out of your arse. There was no way anyone would say Palmer was better compared to savinho during the same age or 2 years ago.
I didn't watch Savinho in La Liga. I am going off the minutes Palmer had for City (scoring in the Super Cup for example) and for what I've seen of Savinho dancing around the box, missing chances, ballooning the ball into row z and pulling out of tackles like a a little fanny it is clear Palmer had something that Savinho doesn't and he's gone on to prove that. So no, not pulling it out of my arse, he was and is 10x the player Savinho is.

He was a good player, you could see he had talent when he played but he was average or slightly above. Rony Lopes was decent too, where's he now? Did you ever think Palmer would reach KDB levels? Obviously he's not there yet and hopefully never will be, but you get my point.

Same danger with Savinho obviously. If he somehow learns to finish and improves in the final third, he could be genuinely class - but that's a massive if.

Be interesting to see who is leaving, cant have Marmoush, Cherki, Doku, Foden,, Savinho, Bobb, fighting for basically 2 positions.

I must have imagined him scoring in Community Shield against Arsenal and the winning goal in the European Super Cup.

We play 2 games most weeks, and some will get injuries...Plus, sometimes 3 of them will play behind Haaland or Marmoush, with Foden or Cherki in midfield.

Doesn't really fit the 'we need a smaller squad scenario' though. I must admit the whole scenario is confusing the hell out of me. We have Pep stating constantly that he wants a smaller squad - 22 has been mentioned. Our A list can be no more than 25 including home grown of which I think there are seven (eight if you include Phillips). We currently have 21 foreign players and we can only register 17. Meanwhile we have already shipped out Nypan and Reis on loan and maybe Echeveri too (couldn't any of those three not have been included on our B list so makes little difference in attaining our max squad size for PL/CL rules?

So as far as I can see, we need to ship out or not register 4 foreign players and yet we are dilly dallying selling Savinho to Spuds. So even if we sell Ederson and loan Echeveri, we still need two more. Can someone smarter than me explain.

Edit. Thos eplayers approaching the end of their contract have already said they want to stay and we are supposed to bring in Donnaruma and Rodrigo?!?

The reality is, we need to lose 3 players, off the NHG list for the CL.

Without replacing them.

That doesn't include Phillips or players that have not been in our squad since january or at the cwc, who although the club need to find moves for, would not be expected to be a part of our playing squad this year.

One of Ortega or Ederson will go without being replaced, as we currently have 4 keepers. That's one for sure. If Donnarumma signs to replace ederson, ortega will still go, or not be registered. If ederson leaves and isn't repalced (unlikely seemingly) then ortega can stay, but it still frees up one space whichever way you put it.

If Echeveri goes on loan that's 2.

Then it is any one of savinho, akanji, gundo, or people mention kovacic but I find that unlikely. That's 3 and we have our squad. That can be registered in the CL, and is down to 23 players with a space at HG and a space at CT.

IF we can't shift one of the above players, then someone else needs to go on loan, the likes of kush or nico gonzales.

With shifting Savinho, you may need/want to replace him, so it is back to square one on that one. With Akanji or Gundo, we have enough cover to let them go outright.

There is an alternative where one or more of Echeveri, Savinho, kush stay and are registered in the PL but not in the CL. But I just do not see that happening. Maybe one of the senior players doesnt get registered, like Gundo, but I don't see that either.

If we shift say ortega, gundo and akanji, then Echeveri can stay with the squad, as can savinho or any player that might replace him.

So it is a case of 3 moves sorts the squad out.

Palmer didn’t look good enough at City and we were all happy with £50m, can’t rewrite history.

He had a good game against Swindon and then in the super cup just before being sold, amongst many other opportunities where he didn’t really prove himself.

Thanks. What are the chances of Akanji or Gundo in particular going though? Nil or close to nil in my opinion. Maybe the threat of non registration will prompt some movement but I can’t see anyone moving unless they are an attractive proposition to another team. We shall see.

'Better' is irrelevant. 'Suited' is more important.

Sav did well for Girona, playing mostly on the left and while they played a possession game, they weren't as dominant as us and didn't come up against packed defences.

Palmer, I thought, was ready to replace Mahrez on the right. Maybe that wasn't the role he wanted, but he could have done it, and better than Savinho did last year - partly because he'd grown up playing the City way and had learnt how to play there under Pep.

I think Sav could do well on the left, but that's a tactical decision of Pep's. I'm not sure he's ever going to be top class on the right. I still expect him to leave late on on the window and play on the left for Spurs.
