Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Not turning up to do their job.
My sister in law works in the reception at Durham County Council. Of the 72 reform councillors she says that 11 have so far failed to attend the council office. Also says numerous meetings have been cancelled due to not enough councillors attending

Do they get paid a salary, or is it just expenses?

They get allowances. Basic usually £10k up, plus responsibility (e.g. for cabinet, committee chair). Leader might be a full time job in bigger councils. Most councillors reckon more than 20 hours a week on council business.

What's gone is an allowance based on attendance at meetings. Nice if you don't turn up and party whips aren't bothered. The other parties may make political capital about absentee members.

I have been so many meetings where councillors turn up for 30 mins and then goes home. We all knew why.

I also recall the Chair for one committee would not start before 8.15pm so the meetings would go on until late. The reason for the late start: his wife wanted him to eat his dinner and they ate at 7.30pm every night.

well - its taken less than a week for them to be outed and blanked by the Police - I for one am not shocked - I am off to Bournemouth next month I wonder will they still be an entity by then?

another gem invited to Reform

Given that, as the police have pointed out, there are already plenty of existing ways for concerned citizens to support law and order you can reasonably assume anyone setting up their own group has ulterior motives.

Looks genuine to me :)

Thing with the flag shaggers is they are blaming this Labour Govt but the law that prevents people hanging flags without permission from public street lighting was introduced in 1980, Highways Act section 132. A time when Reformers were still Tories.
