I think it's actually pretty important for a club to say hey this is the price, if you want the guy, pay it. Newcastle are showing that they're the boss and if a club wants their players then they need to pay the cost they determine is fair. Given his success, years of contract remaining, age, etc. then I think the price they set seems very fair. If Liverpool really want him, they'll make it happen.

Realistically, both Newcastle and Isak will benefit from him coming back into the team though so I suspect if he isn't moved before the transfer window shuts he'll be back after the international break and probably with a new contract.

It also sets a negative precedent which other players and clubs are more likely to try to take advantage of.

To be honest. They are not willing to sell him unless they get players and everyone is rejecting them. Its not like they said hes for sale, Liverpool come and get him and Liverpool are low balling them. There's a difference.

Southampton are much smaller compared to Liverpool, and Liverpool paid a world record fee for a centreback, it was completely reasonable on all sides for it to happen.

Mahrez and Sterling didn't force anything, they wanted to leave, and we allowed it and go fair deals, completely ammicable.
