Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

For £70m+ he should already be a great player. If we were offering that money to Spurs based on what we saw last season, I would think we had lost the fucking plot. He might go on to do special things, but he’s miles away from that at the moment.
I agree. Hence why we should snap spurs hand off

I can see us selling and not replacing.

Bobb

It does look one short for me, but players such as Bernardo can play right and Foden left possibly Al Nouri.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the club consider it too much money to turn down.

This would leave us a season to see whether the left hand side works, how we potentially get Foden/ Cherki in the team, is Doku just an impact sub or is he good enough to start, how we get Mahmoush and Haaland in the same team. Is Bobb genuinely good enough over a season.

All without a player who takes one of those spaces each week.

You would then think it would help next season we can make the right signing to enhance our forward line.

To precis, clubs make mistakes, Savinho is such a mistake, but we should trust Pep. Your commentary is flawed.

A mistake we won't take 60m for, who spurs supposedly will pay 70m for. A club record mistake for them.

Who'd just finished in the TOTY in la liga, and 4th in ballon d'or young player voting when we got him for probably half-off due to CFG links, when ironically he was linked with Real as a potential Rodrygo replacement.

Even if we sell him for 70m, to have doubled his value in 1 year is obviously not a mistake.

Also I think people in this thread need to consider we might be playing 4-2-3-1, which necessitates an at least equal replacement - which arguably Rodrygo is the only viable one.

This is a no brainer now for City. €80m . Even if he turns out to be the best winger in the world in a few years he can be replaced for around the same fee . No risk.

We've only ever signed 2 players for a higher fee than that. Grealish and Gvardiol. would also go down as our biggest ever sale at that price.

Madness really, let's get that money!!

We will have to spend more just to replace him and treble the wages too though. So it's still more expenditure than income.

Hard to NOT see City taking that deal (€80M), esp given we are struggling with squad size and we have cover.

He threatens to be a world beater, but he isn’t…yet! That’s a big price to pay for a maybe, but Spurs and Frank are desperate to not make Ange’s sacking look like a big mistake. No silverware this season for Spurs and Ange will be able to point and say, “See, not so easy, is it!!”

City have the cover on the wings at present, so it feels like a deal that could be made IF City want the money. I think they will. This is becoming an increasingly big business and the squad will REQUIRE another significant refresh next season, so bank it and start scouting for the talent today.

Reckon Levy gets this done now, if only to appease the Spurs following. I rate Savinho, but €80m is a really good deal for us.

We have more than enough cover. We don't need to buy someone else.

We have 1 other winger, who can create chances by hugging the touchline, which is a key element of some of Pep's approaches.

Marmoush, Foden, Cherki and I'd say usually Bobb are forwards who float inside. Cherki and Foden should be playing 10 anyway, with Reijnders next to Rodri, so Haaland isn't so horribly isolated.

Think bobb can also play out wide/ hug the touchline...certainly as well as Sav can... imho

True but is he a better player? I think so.

Honestly I'd say Rodrygo today is a better goal threat and obviously brings some winning mentality. Savinho probably has a higher ceiling long term and is more creative.

I'd happily take one or the other. If Savinho's desperate to go we can't do much better than Rodrygo as a replacement. But I wouldn't force Sav out to achieve it.

If we don't replace Sav I think itll be disaster. We need more attackers not less, the problems of last season aren't solved by having 12 CMs and CBs.

I'd be happy with not replacing him tbh. I think on the right we are fine with Bobb, Foden, and Cherki and I think it would open up more minutes for mukasa too.

I'd be more worried about the left tbh. Only Doku and Marmoush there atm and Haaland needs his minutes managing to a degree so Marmoush is covering there. Savinho has played on the left plenty so I was assuming he would fill in there if needed. Although Ait Nori is probably decent there too.

No way Bernardo should ever be asked to play wide right again. He did it last season because he’s a good guy but he was so much more effective when he started playing centrally, even in the deep lying role. But a winger he isn’t
