Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I suspect that might well be part next summer’s business, unless we see a drastic improvement in output and productivity this year
Which won't happen until we stop leaving him isolated & facing 2-3 players every time he receives the ball.

I can't think of another player who'd succeed in similar circumstances.

That's a fair enough price for him but fuck Levy, drag it out and string him along till deadline day
Now, now - what sort of a complete **** pulls that sort of shit.
Payback is a bitch - so screw the twat to the wall, take it 'til 23:59 on deadline day then tell him the fax machine is out of ink!!!!
In case it's unclear - I wouldn't deal with that slimy git if it meant we had to sell a player for a quid to someone else

The "norm" isn't set on Savinho.

Shooting 2% is an anomaly for anyone. Not just Savinho.

10% is average. 15% good. 20% exceptional.

2% - nearly unheard of. Anomalous.

If he shot 7%, sure he'd be a below average shooter, that'd be statistically relevant. 2% too low to expect to continue.

The reverse isn't likely to be true.

You clearly didn't watch us before 2010, if you think that's an anomaly ;)

No chance he'd get on List A but it just occurred to me to ask how it is different for Reis as opposed to all our other U21 loan transfers (who I understand can only be recalled to register to play the PL in the next transfer window)?
All players including U21s seem to be assigned a PL squad number as part of registration according to their rules.

Yeah, no chance Reis can get on any of the 3 different lists for HG players.

Only way Reis could have been considered HG in any way was if:

He arrived before or on his 18th birthday, which was 13 January 2024,

and either stayed at the club the next 3 seasons for List B / Club trained or some combo of being at City, and other clubs in England and Wales FA that would get him on List A. Either one would have made him a HG player for the PL

The same applies to any player and why Bobb, being Norwegien is a List B player for us, and Ake, as a Dutchman, is List A because he trained at Chelsea.

This distinction is irrelevant, at the risk of redundancy here, to the PL's 8 Homegrown player rule which treats both of them as the same where both qualify as HG.

However, Reis could later play for us in the PL and FA Cup after the January 2026 window, if we recall him, and register him with all of the other U21 players we have at the club.

i.e how Academy players get to play in these competitions.

I would say, IF we face a massive injury crisis heading into the January window, assuming we have a recall clause in the loan, he COULD be needed and then recalled. Such an injury crisis would have to affect many areas outside CB for CL, yet he could at least play in the PL.

Why? Because if Stones and Ake happen to be the ones injured and are out for a long time by January (ironically, both the likeliest of our CB's, I know, and very minor worry) they are both on List A for CL as Association trained.

So any replacements to help with registration would have to be on List A or even harder to get, List B (club trained).

If this happened we could recall him because then we only have 3 CB's to rotate in all comps. He could at least play in the FA Cup that starts then and the PL to give a respite to Dias, Gvardiol and Khusanov, worst case scenario.

for Reis

Simply put, the PL's rules are more lax than UEFA's competition rules

If €80m is true he has to go. Only cost £30m a year ago and he’s been OK.. he has done well and has the potential to justify his fee but I don’t know if there’s any ceiling he’s capable of where we would regret selling at that price.

Man I want spurs to end up with no one in the end so bad but in the end it’s business..

Nope mate, every single player in world football has to be registered to be eligible for competitive matches
- at only 1 club at a time. ;)

On Reis:
maybe he could be recalled at any time - BUT he can only be registered during an open transfer window before being eligible.

Reis would therefore not be recalled before January and then registered at our association to play for us.

Agreed.

Any 21 player recalled before the next window who was not registered as an u21 for the PL by the September 2025 deadline cannot play in the PL...

Until we register them as u21 players for City after the January 2026 transfer window closes.

As mentioned, I'm sure many of us remember this is what happened with Gabby when he came, and ironically enough could have been Reis last season when he joined mid-January. Did he play in the PL or FA Cup? I thought maybe he did once?

Even if he didn't we would have registered him as an u21 that made him able to play starting in February 2025 when the window closed.

My point is it's stated categorically on here by some there is a special clause in the Reis deal which allows him to be recalled to play in the PL as an U21 at any time. Others (with whom I agree) have pointed out this makes no sense and he can only play in the PL or CL after January after registration in the respective squads.

If it's true that Levy has offered £80m then take it with a sell-on clause, and make the deal watertight and payable in full. As one of our sternest critics and an instigator behind EPL charges against us then we have to punish him in a way that shows him how we balance our books.

I still have a bad feeling that if we let go of Savinho, we won't replace him due to the inflated total cost of Rodrygo. City don't usually pay those types of fees that Madrid want.

Other clubs like Liverpool will pay the cash they want if they can't get Isak. Could end up selling Savinho, as we did Alvarez and getting nobody in to replace him. I'd rather we kept Savinho at this rate personally.
Would only sell if we knew we had a deal for Rodrygo signed and sealed beforehand.
