Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I cant find your quote in the post match comments suggesting that.
Thanks for checking but if I'd been privileged to have you as a sofa companion for that game you'd have heard me say that his assist celebration seemed undercooked. I'll go further now and say his ganso is well and truly cooked as far as City is concerned - even if he sticks around after this window.

Looks like he wants to go to Spurs. Think it says a lot about his aspirations. Let him be the big fish in a swamp

I don't think you can ever underestimate the will of a Brazilian player to play for his national team.

Savio played in the 5 WC qualifiers prior to Ancelotti getting the job, and then he got dropped from the entire squad.

Pep has probably told him you will get minutes but you are not guaranteed to start, and to be fair I think once we have a full fit team I think he will predominantly resigned to coming off the bench at 70 mins or so.

The problem Savio has, is whilst he is a good player in his own right, the move to City came a season or two too soon, and he might have had discussions with his family and agent weighing up his situation and maybe thinking taking a step back to a step forward in a few years will be best for his development.

We play twice a week after the international break. Savinho will have plenty of chances to start and impress. He can play on both wings which will guarantee him a lot of minutes. If he shows he's better than Bobb or Doku, he starts more games.

Fair enough. Personally I couldn't give a toss as I'm club over country.
Ancelotti doesn't pay his mortgage.

*not saying you are btw

I remember the South American Football 'expert' Tim Vickery saying at the time how poor Savinho was with his final ball, in front of goal ,and other decision making and that he couldn't understand why City got him......not entirely wrong is he
Vickery is a Spurs fan so he’ll be delighted

The best players at every club are guaranteed starts. Or pur differently, some players are more favored than others. It might be their talent, or just the Manager's stylistic choice.

For a good player, it doesn't matter. You are best at a team where the Manager rates and believes in you individually. Mentality has little to do with it often.
Nope Foden is one of our best players, but last year he wasn't a guaranteed starter because he was off form. Nobody is guaranteed to start at a big club like ours. Savio for a young inexperienced player got plenty of game time last year, if you want to play every game, you need to be the best, to be the best you need to the mentality to be the best, the best don't quit at level 1.

1st time he has ever been close to being right
I always remember when we signed Marlos Moreno and Vickery was bigging him up as the biggest talent in South America. Never even made a match day squad for us and spent most of his career on loans or in some footballing backwaters without much success anywhere.

I thought he wasn't picked for the brazil games because he was playing in the cwc I'm sure I read that of one of the posters on here

How dare a player decide what is best for himself and play for a team that can phone him more minutes and eventually protect his place in Nt?

There are players who don’t play for city and don’t have problem in their careers

Plenty of players played in the CWC that featured in the international friendlies a few weeks earlier, including a bunch of Brazilian players.

Most players went regardless to meet up with squads.

Even Stones went despite injured.

Pep didn't put a block on anyone getting called up because there was WC qualifiers to be played.

I don't follow the Brazilian team but he was in the squad up till the CWC.
Not sure he has been dropped

Carlo dropped him in his first call up selection. He was free to be called up because they played WC qualification games. The club didn't put a stop to anyone getting called up to a WC qualifier.

Vinicius and Marquinhos both played for Brazil and at the CwC. Savinho just wasn’t picked for the Brazil squad.

And that's why I think he has panicked and wants the Spurs move.

I think he knows he won't get enough key game time for Ancelotti to select him.

Brazil NT is the pinnacle for any Brazil player, not club football.

He said Paulinho was better than Fernandinho and Spurs got the better deal.
