It's Quiet the £250m return

Michael Olise and Cole Palmer, the obvious ones. But also Morgan Rogers, Jeremie Frimpong, Brahim Diaz, Kieran Trippier, and of course Lavia and Delap are still showing plenty promise. Lots of misses from us.

Good players but I doubt we would have won the Treble and 4 in a row if they were starting many games for us 2-3 years ago. Most of them weren't good enough to displace our squad players. Even Foden, Mahrez, and Alvarez were squad players in 22/23, Laporte and Walker as well. It's hard to win everything while developing academy players. Trade-offs.

I agree. They weren't good enough in 22/23. They were kids. Nobody is saying they were! But Olise is already performing at a higher level than Mahrez ever has. My point is players can leave and flourish/grow. This lad I'm replying to stated we wouldn't be interested in Morgan Rogers because we've seen him before. He is nowhere near the same player. That is my point.

Right on cue... lol. Not even a day later and leaks start popping up that Slot wants him. Funny he's a target for Liverpool, but he's supposedly not City level. Liverpool are currently title favorites btw. Oh, and they have Florian Wirtz and Sozbo at 10 already... you just don't pass up on this level of talent.

Like I mentioned yesterday. Would surprise me if we weren't sniffing around despite not having an obvious role for him at the moment. Ceiling on this lad makes it a no brainer. I reckon he'd play his way intp our best XI for every match of the run-in this season. Just so effective.
Fortunately your obviously in the minority on here with these thoughts, and a whats app message from x where 99.9 % of rumours come go nothing ,proves absolutely nothing

Weird folk on this forum. You feel fortunate that City wouldn't explore the idea of bringing in Morgan Rogers? Or fortunate to know that you think he's bad and you believe most people on this forum agree with you?

Our views of fortune differ greatly. Rogers is a top player. All I said was City would surely be sniffing around if he was for sale. Is this a ludicrous take?

Lol ok i get it your a Rodgers fan boy you do you. I didnt say he was a bad player, Just not the standard required for City, No need to reply nothing you say will convince me otherwise , have a good day

Disagreements are perfectly normal. You may be right about Rogers, but it's far from obvious he would be a starter for us if given the chance. Actually, it's a highly controversial take. No wonder some are pushing against. Where would Rogers fit and at whose expense?

No Rodrygo? Fine, perhaps he's too much work but if we don't get Donnarumma, I'm going to start massively doubting Viana. Best GK in the world who is 26yo throwing himself at us but 40-50mil Euros for that is 'too much' and because 32yo Ederson who is way past his prime 'still isn't sold'? Give me a break!
Viana doesn’t set the budget

Did I read that right? olise is performing at a higher level than mahrez ever did??

Olise is nowhere near prime Mahrez lol. You must have one short memory.

The fella is 23 and he's had one good season in his entire career. People are far too quick to build people up. I remember watching him in his 6 months at Boro and he looked nothing special and he didn't pull any trees up in his previous loan spells.

Let's see what he's like at the end of the season.

Cole Palmer had a huge 6 month drop off last season too after his one good year.

Consistency is the most difficult thing in football.

Yea but by the same token 99% of our fan base have convinced themselves Oscar Bobb is THAT guy. He may well be. He has the potential to be. Super talented. But it’s also on the basis of a goal v Newcastle, one pre season and a good performance last weekend. If he goes on to perform the way he did last week all season , then going into next season he will also be 23 and had one good season. I doubt many on here will be saying we are being too quick to build him up.

Morgan Rogers was outstanding last season. He was one of the best players in the league. . Cole Palmer has been easily top 3 players in this league since he left City even taking into account his drop off last season. He’s stepped up in big moments in 2 cup finals for them. He stepped up for England in a major final and did more in a 20 minute cameo when everyone else bottled.

I think Oscar Bobb has potential to get to palmers level even if not in terms of goals and assists but on impact on games. Point I’m making is I think lots of fans quick to try to play down players who have either left City or wear another clubs shirt and say they’re over hyped whilst hyping up our players some of who right now have achieved less.

I agreed with you that players grow. And I agree that the players you mention were not good enough in 22/23. Morgan Rogers has grown way beyond what anyone imagined. He had a great season, sure, but I don't think he is at our level yet. I could be wrong, so let's see how he develops.

Olise is simply not as good as Mahrez, so we disagree there. He is talented, of course. We have a front line of Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Bobb, Savinho, and Doku. I am happy with that...very.

If you do not allow Doku and Savinho to grow, as you indicate players do, and you replace them with the players you identify (and I don't think they are as good as you do) then you also defeat the premise of your point, which was, I think, that we have allowed stars to leave. I don't think we have lost anyone of the quality of the players we had in the team mentioned, nor anyone with the potential of Cherki, Bobb, et al.

We can disagree without 'lols' too. It is a rather childish retort. I see nobody, Palmer apart (and he hasn't scored a goal in open play for many games), who is now a world star. We could argue about Olise, of course, but as he was also with Arsenal and Reading, etc, it seems we would have had to hold on to him for an awfully long time to get to the required level.
