I agree. They weren't good enough in 22/23. They were kids. Nobody is saying they were! But Olise is already performing at a higher level than Mahrez ever has. My point is players can leave and flourish/grow. This lad I'm replying to stated we wouldn't be interested in Morgan Rogers because we've seen him before. He is nowhere near the same player. That is my point.
I agreed with you that players grow. And I agree that the players you mention were not good enough in 22/23. Morgan Rogers has grown way beyond what anyone imagined. He had a great season, sure, but I don't think he is at our level yet. I could be wrong, so let's see how he develops.
Olise is simply not as good as Mahrez, so we disagree there. He is talented, of course. We have a front line of Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Bobb, Savinho, and Doku. I am happy with that...very.
If you do not allow Doku and Savinho to grow, as you indicate players do, and you replace them with the players you identify (and I don't think they are as good as you do) then you also defeat the premise of your point, which was, I think, that we have allowed stars to leave. I don't think we have lost anyone of the quality of the players we had in the team mentioned, nor anyone with the potential of Cherki, Bobb, et al.
We can disagree without 'lols' too. It is a rather childish retort. I see nobody, Palmer apart (and he hasn't scored a goal in open play for many games), who is now a world star. We could argue about Olise, of course, but as he was also with Arsenal and Reading, etc, it seems we would have had to hold on to him for an awfully long time to get to the required level.
