I saw his debut. He didn’t play a single stray pass as DM. He was clearly a great player & caught the eye. It was the first game of the season and Hughes started Ched Evans ahead of Daniel Sturridge…

Still remember his debut against West Ham like it was yesterday. Excellent in midfield then dropped seamlessly into defence when Dunney went off injured. Could tell then we'd signed real quality.

Been a legend ever since.

Was it West Ham? Genuinely thought his first game for us was against Chelsea? Or an I thinking of Robinho but Kompany played?

Amazing signing, remember he played in midfield when we bought him at first, can't remember when he got moved to centre half but I do remember Tony on the Cheadle bus telling us he was never a centre back in a million years great judge Tony! Haha

Yeah first game was definitely West Ham. Chelsea was the first game after the takeover but Vinnie had joined a few weeks before.

Ah okay. I remember Vinnie launching someone about after they'd scored a free kick against Chelsea - think it was possibly Robinho's first game

Doing great work as Bayern boss. 13th straight win equalling a record for whole of Europe. He has got to be a shoe-in for next City manager, hasn’t he?
