Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not one positive to say about that game, other than I missed 10 minutes due to the new improved ticketing system.
Can't wait for the email asking me to rate the matchday experience.

His drop in form coincides with him getting together with Maya Jama, she’s ruined him.

Are
Come on it's only fucking Spurs
We all hate losing and kick the toys out of our prams
But next week they will lose and City will come back with a bang

Its City

In Glory or in the shit we have a wobble nothing ever changes
Are we in Shit or glory then?

Shows how good we were though.

More than anything I am struggling to accept that going into a new season, we simply aren’t good enough to compete for the title and that isn’t our primary objective any more.

Can see a lot more frustration to come.

Wasn't just talking about him but you just zeroed in on it didn't you.

Not sure you were there or if you were you have already decided on him, but on EVERY corner Rico was going mental at the rest of the side that he was LEFT ON HIS OWN prone for a counter attack.

The whole tactical and team dynamic is off ATM and this is exactly what I mean. I name no names and yet you lot can't fucking help yourself when I was sitting behind the goal watching Rico Lewis having a go at SENIOR players for dawdling up to corners leaving us completely exposed.

Yeah, he wasn't great today but let me list the players worse who you didn't mention;

Cherki
Reinders
Dias
Marmoush

That's what I mean you Mellon. Thanks for proving my point.
I know you want to defend a homegrown player but we need to face the facts. He is shite.

We are simply not a great team anymore. Our era of dominance is over. It happens to them all eventually. Liverpool and United dominated eras but it doesn't last forever. Now it's our turn for it to come to an end.

No killer instinct anymore either. 3 years ago I'd fully expect us to get something from a losing position, just because of the killer mentality we had. We no longer have it. Players are laughing and smiling on the bench or having craic with opposing subs while we're losing.

The city era is over. Frustrating times ahead.
As last season, we are sluggish, don’t seem focused enough for the speed of the opposition who were at us instantly. Poor ball control allowed them to take it away from us constantly, and we looked weak being bullied off the ball. Too many through ball opportunities missed and just same ball sideways.
They constantly had 2 players crowd out ours on the ball, something we don’t do.

Other teams will be playing the same way against us and does not bode well.

This is not just tactics or new players gelling as a team, it is individual lack of mental and physical focus, fight and intensity.

Our signings in general over the last few years are just not up to it. Marmoush, Nico, Doku, Savinho, Nunes and to a lesser extent Kovacic. All bad signings not the quality required to compete. The new lads the jury is out but you see some of the other teams signing players who are proven in the premier league, yes there might be a premium but you know they can do it.

We are in for a season of pain again and it’s largely down to the fact our recruitment team don’t know what they’re doing.
Bollocks. We’ve brought in good players at considerable expense but reasonable prices. A credit to Viano. We’ve spent a shitload more than today’s opposition but they were better organised.

Can we only beat moderate teams by being stacked with £100m players?

That was as bad as I have seen. It would be much easier to list the players who did well rather than list those who struggled.

Bobb, Stones, Reijnders good.

Trafford, Marmoush, Cherki Rico, Nico awful.

I love Pep. He took us to a level we never thought possible. But I honesty think it’s time to change. New coach new idea. We need a breath of fresh ideas vs the same ole same ole week in week out. Teams figured out how to play against us. It’s just getting embarrassing now.
If that was to have happened then the break point has been and gone until next summer.
I still believe a natural progression would have been to change the DoF and manager together - but we didn't.
Hopefully Lijnders can make Pep see that things need to change given the players we have

If I was a betting man….and I am…….I would say at least some of today was the result of Pep having to demonstrate to the board that we need to be more active in the transfer market….when some of them obviously th8nk the side is strong enough already…..

Not sure who said it pre match but I expect we’ll see a flurry of activity before the window closes…

We play as if Haaland is Alan Smith. He's rapid and progressive and we have completely nullified that.

Think back to his first game, West Ham that goal. Now teams play differently but we let them. He can still bully full backs...but on the fucking floor please.

There was a chance in the 2nd half to play it through to him but we are so drilled at going wide first (letting everyone get back and defend) that the ball never came. It is the single biggest waste of a player in the history of football and I don't think I'm being dramatic.

Does my head in aswell, we hardly ever look to give our biggest asset (and 500k a week outlay or whatever it is) the ball to his feet or to run onto

Typical City performance v Spurs.

We had as many chances as them but never really looked like scoring.

Marmoush,Doku, Nico and Rico are not at the level required.

Rodri back in the side and a top class left sided attacker and a proper right back )or Khusanov) and we will look a different side.

Couldn’t disagree with the starting 11 today from Pep….but the Bernardo substitution that eventually lead to him on the right wing was never going to work.

Bobb was by far our best player, with more to come from Reijnders and Cherki.

The positives …we improved on last season v Spurs, we didn’t capitulate and we lost the turgid side to side football.

The big negative is the overall quality of the squad compared to a few seasons ago.
